The Union Army under General George Mead defeats the Confederate Army under the Command of Robert E. Lee after disastorus failure to breach Union Lines in what is remember as 'Pickett's Charge' Confederate General George Edward Pickett attempted to breach Uniion lines and failed. From that point on the Confederacy was fighting a losing battle. On a personal note, I lost two uncles at Gettysburg, they were part of Arkansas Contingent.
