As for you thinking that repealing the 17th would somehow encourage those checks and balances, I'm saying your naive at best, and the worst outcome could occur in that you would have gridlock. Something you almost have to a degree now.

You want checks and balances? Get more political parties in the Senate and House. Make sure nobody has a majority. You'd see true bi-partisanship occurring...

The only way that we can get more parties is if we had each individual county vote (by the majority of the people who vote in each county) for the electoral college.
The way it is set up now is only in favor for the 2 parties.

He can't possibly be confirmed because the progressives have spent the last few weeks telling us how we are vehemently opposed to this and will do everything in our power to stop it. We haven't put up any effort to stop it so he can't possibly be confirmed.

Either that or they were completely lying off their ass when they said it was a big deal to us.

Either way, there is a Senate Seat open. Perhaps wisdom would allow us to actually do something to obtain it.
