Las Vegas is one of those places I had never been to so as an early 60th birthday celebration I took the family to Vegas for a few days.

My daughter had been there dozens of times and our unofficial adopted son that came with us used to live there so I had a lot of good insight on where to go for things.

It was a ton of fun thanks to the company and the never ending things to do. The food was amazing, I had heard the food there was good and I did not disappoint.

Playing poker in a casino sucks.

We had a great time and I never, ever plan to go back! Despite how much fun we had, it is just not for us. I would much rather spend my time and money at a beach than Vegas.

It was in a way like Disney World. We took the kids there in 2012, they were 17 and 10. They had a great time and yet both said "well, that was fun, lets never do it again".

Been there three times.
First time got married there.
Second time spent our tenth anniversary there.
Third time, celebrated my divorce there, with 18 buddies on a double bachelor's party. Man, that was a blast. One guy literally re-lived The Hangover.

Third time was the most enjoyable trip.
Not sure if I will go back there, only because what used to be a reasonable priced trip, has now gotten insanely expensive.

It is definitely a city one should visit at least once. Plenty to do and see even for the non drinkers or gamblers.

I got my ass kicked on Blackjack in Vegas. Completely different table play than the Tribal Casino's in MN.

Most tables in Vegas dealt the player face down and you were allowed to handle your cards. Most were single deck with a shuffle every hand. Then $10 min a hand in the big casinos? Screw that.

MN the cards to players are all face up and you might get your fingers wacked if you actually touched the cards. The deal is from a shute typically holding 6 decks of cards.
Strangely, I seem to do better in this scenario. I think I get a better handle on the game seeing what other players have and how they actually play their hands. If an idiot appears at the table, I move on.

It is such an odd place.

My wife and I were just talking about how there are no windows in any casino and how you can go from one to another and not ever go outside. Time seems to lose all meaning there

The 6-deck makes it harder to “count” the cards. I think if “all” the smaller cards go out early, your odds to win improve? I forget? But easier to keep track of 52 cards vs. 312 cards.

oh if you consistently “win” beyond basic luck, they will ban you from playing in LV. Or so we hear about it.

$25 - $250 min bet bans me already.

Been a while since I played, but in the six deck here, you can request a complete reshuffling from the dealer if too many cards of one type were played in a tables hand.
Best win I ever had was I split aces, got dealt two more aces, split those and got blackjack on all four aces. Whole table including dealer were flabbergasted.
Shute was reshuffled after that and dealer replaced...lol.

Is it really worth a visit?

To me it is worth going once.

The food alone made the trip worthwhile, but the experience is unlike anything I have had, and I have traveled a lot in my lifetime.
