Heck yes that hate it, the regular vote is the total count, the electoral College gives the whole Country a balance vote. Otherwise the vote excludes those states who have less populations. So say if all the Wetbacks settle in TX they can control the whole Nation and it was put in to the Constitution just for that reason. Progressives hate the Constitution for just that reason.

In 1787 the Southern (slave holding states) were the fastest growing states and had the largest western claims on unorganized territory. Protection of slavery was not a pivotal consideration.
