We are not confused. You are.

Our Constitution guarantees our right to freedom of religion. The scriptures cannot be used as the sole basis for laws. But they also cannot be ruled by the government.

Biblical texts are not ancient, the earliest manuscripts date back to around the 10th century AD

Well I allow anybody their beliefs but I will stay with the historical evidence that Old Testament texts date back millenia before the birth of Jesus and the oldest of the New Testament texts are probably no older than First Century A.D.
