Republicans in this forum never take rsponsibility for anything. The love to blame democrats for everything wrong as if the draconian Republican policies they present are the panacea. Here we see one example of what Republicans do to "Democrtic" cities if they try proposing things that will actually help their citizens.

Tennessee Republicans tell Memphis to abandon gun reform or risk funding cuts

Republican leaders in the Tennessee House and Senate warned Memphis officials on Monday that if the city puts gun reform on the ballot this November, the state will withhold the city’s sales tax revenue.

In a joint statement, House Speaker Cameron Sexton, R-Crossville, and Senate Speaker Randy McNally, R-Oak Ridge, said that the legislature “will not tolerate any attempts to go rogue and perform political sideshows.”

“If they do not want to participate within the state and state laws, then they do not need to participate in the state’s successes,” the statement said.

It’s not the first time the state has opposed local initiatives in Memphis. Earlier this year, the state legislature passed a law reversing police reform that the city council had instituted after the death of Tyre Nichols.

Memphis has a gun crime probem and Republicans here run their mouths about it. Yet when they propose a solution to the problem Republicans use underhanded tactics to stop what they want to do. This goes on in other states as well.

What is the predominant race in the Memphis area? How many gangs does Memphis have that drive towards the high-crime rates we continue to see? Why are people ignorant enough to believe criminals would pay attention to gun reform laws, restrictions, etc?

Bad laws by the city should risk losing the funding. Congress time and again have threatened to pull funding from states that refuse to go along with the feds policies, I see no issue with it. Putting politcal pressure on a city to follow the states lead is nothing new nor is it wrong.

"solution" lol red flag laws and no concealed carry will solve the gang problems?
It's too late to prevent the good guys who are permitted to carry concealed guns. The gangsters would have a field day!

America's solution has become, convincing more 'good' guys to carry concealed weapons.

It can't be a slow and steady increase in good guys packing heat because the 'bad' guys will be able to keep pace. The Republicans need to organize gatherings, that are intent on quickly arming 'good' guys, and then sending them out after dark to take action where the police are refusing!

Innocent citizens will just have to stay home at night for a brief period of a month or two, while the situation is remedied.

What's the DemoKKKrat "solution" to the gun crime problem in Memphis (or any other blue shithole)? DemoKKKrats have run the city for decades and the problem gets worse every year.

The truth is you LIKE the violence and the bloodshed.

We want to correct your spelling for one thing. Democrats need to accept blame for their own mistakes. Cities have so many voters who knows what they want?

Memphis is a black shithole. As many guns as possible are needed for culling.

It's the same all over from what I've seen here and read about taking place elsewhere. I tend to agree when Republicans champion their opposition to the nanny state. But nanny states are alive and doing especially well in state legislatures across the country - regardless of which party is in power.

Yeah, cuz murderers always obey gun laws.

Dumbass.

How do you want to stop Mass shooters again?
Keep guns out of the hands of Democrats….particularly, dark Democrats?

Democrats won't even enforce the gun laws we have because that would disproportionately punish Black Americans who are responsible for over 2/3s of the country's gun crime.
Actually whites are responsibe for most of the gun crime. Just like whites are responsible for 70 percent of all crime in America but excuse themselves by dividing crimes by 100,000 people.
