Liberals' War On Fast Food

It is meant to be a part-time job, by its very definition, not a job to live on.

Um, Liberals?

These are workers trying to form a Union. That is the ONLY way to get fair wages in this country. Reagan broke the Unions in the 80s, and social mobility came to a halt. People who work for a living in the private sectors have been led by the nose with corporate heads demanding greater productivity. The greater productivity has happened. Sharing the profits has not.

People are tired of the bullshit.

And Unions? They aren't marxist. They've actually brought DOWN communist governments.

Commies and Fascists absolutely despise Unions.

Speaking of being "tired of Bullshit," the comment that "social mobility came to a halt" during the 1980's and only because of some intangible link to Unions being broken by Reagan is more than a little bullshit.

Since the 1940’s, the chances of rising from the lower-middle class to the upper class has been steadily dropping

Let them complain when they have no jobs at all. It only makes sense to forgo human workers. Less chance of orders getting screwed up, an end to robberies.

"Entry level" jobs USED to be for people who were 'moving up' in the job market.
That phrase no longer fits the typical 'fast-food' job b/c the vast majority of the workers are barely sentient enough to tie their own shoes...hence Velcro.
These are people who could not succeed in the education system b/c their IQ's were too low to comprehend the lessons being taught by, in many many cases, people who are not any more intelligent than the students.
'Lose-lose' all round.
What are the inner city poor going to do when they can't afford their daily pail full of fat/carbonated sugar water/salt/MSG?
Seriously. Is BOBO then going to issue free fast-food vouchers? I bet a million bucks after as BOBO stated "America [gets] a raise, and the poor can't afford the fast-food they live on he will demand the 'Makers' once again to come riding to the rescue to bail out another of his failed Socialist fantasies.
Only two more fucking years folks!

I can get an 8" sub from a locally owned and operated food establishment. It includes a table and waitress. For $8.50 I have food and pay a $2 tip. Fast food isn't that much cheaper.

Entry level jobs are not meant to pay for all of life's expenses. It is for experience and motivation to get a better job. Kill off fast food joints, I'll not shed a tear.

Ridiculous to say that some jobs are not meant to support the worker.

Ridiculous for a worker to take a job that won't support them.

They are not designed to support a family, or allow a worker to live in the style they desire. There are still things called flophouses around, and there is a reason for that.

I hope all fast food restaurants hike wages to $15hr or even more. People won't pay that much for the garbage and America's health will improve.
That's my point. People will lose their jobs thanks to that type of mentality.

Maybe.

More likely all prices will increase, and those celebrating their high wage will once again find they can only afford to buy exactly what they were buying BEFORE they received a wage increase.

Minimum wage is an effective way to manipulate the stupid. Both Republicans and Democrats have used the short term tactic.

The technology already exists to pretty much make fast-food outlets operate using robotics.
Watch how many fast food outlets begin replacing $15.00 hour simians with robotics.
The only reason this hasn't happened industry-wide is b/c the franchise owners up till now could pay minimum wage and make about 2-3% net profit.
The only reason so many people wanted to be franchise owners is b/c even though the profit margin is WAY below other profit margins the guaranteed volume in sales make fast food a solid business to be in.
Reduce the low net profit and a franchise owner is better off closing the business and starting an auto parts store. Or moving to robotics.

The wage hike of $15/hr won't necessarily equal a rise in the price of the food.

You'll just need to wait longer to get it, you may have to type in the order yourself and only use a credit card (no cash transactions removes the cost of the cashier), and "food" will be made of cheaper ingredients.

Well no.

It's not bullshit.

But hey..let's hear your solutions to social mobility.

I mean outside the "flat tax" and "cut regulations" crapola.

Giving more money to rich people generally hasn't worked in the past.

Always amazes me that people can think, hey let's change this one part of the equation and leave everything else the same. Change one part and other parts will adapt too.

Sure it does.

And it did as far back as the 1900s.

We called them automats.

How'd they work out?

On the local news the camera crew was at a McDonalds now having a protest group. One woman collared the manager (who is an employee himself and not an owner) and demanded to know why her hours were cut. The manager said "You wanted $9.00 an hour. You got a raise to $9.00 an hour. "

Fast food places are changing over to automation very quickly in Europe and Japan. Probably in the very near future, the corporate offices will offer franchise owners financial support to automate. New franchises will start off automated. It won't take long to replace all these workers with machines.

Watch for cash to be replaced by reloadable cards, like Starbucks has. They won't even need a cashier.

The answer to social mobility you say? Motivation, stop taking away people's incentive to make themselves better.

These are workers trying to form a Union.
No rather SEIU is trying to get more paying members to screw.

Good luck with unionizing. I doubt any PRIVATELY run establishments will agree to that!

That is the ONLY way to get fair wages in this country.
LOL, I don't believe anymore that you make more than minimum wage. I know you claim to be a computer programer, but some of the statements you make are so clueless I don't believe you make the money you make!

Reagan broke the Unions in the 80s, and social mobility came to a halt.
I will agree that Reagan is over-rated by the right, but he saw a true recovery and a growth of HIGH paying jobs! He didn't break the Unions, through Union greed, corruption and stupidity did that!

People are tired of the bullshit.
Nothing comes for free, esp in the marxist/socialist paradise that you desire!

And Unions? They aren't marxist. They've actually brought DOWN communist governments.

LOL, Unions are an a strong player in the marxist/socialist movement across US and Europe. They would LOVE fascism because like all great communist leaders like Hugo Chavez (how does hell feel by the way?) they despise and go to war with business. They claim they are winning until there food storages start, jobs are scarce, crime increases and the misery and poverty levels shoot through the roof.

They worked out very very well! The only reason why the old automats failed is because the cashier machines could not take paper money. The technology wasn't that advanced. Automated fast food is growing in Europe and Japan.

I'll be happy to expound, but will not waste time with anyone who cannot admit that, "Reagan broke the Unions in the 80s, and social mobility came to a halt" is BULLSHIT.

Of course you can't "expound".

Because it would probably involve some "Austrian" bullshit mixed with Randian super citizen stuff.

The fact remains that Unions, Education, Regulations, and Minimum Wages coupled with Government Jobs, actually help raise people from poverty.

Having a small Billionaires Boys Club, doesn't.
