It possibly would be illegal for a candidate to accept anything for value for free, and it would most likely be illegal for a candidate to accept assistance with a campaign from a foreign entity if it involved any illegally obtained information.

A money launderer, by definition, is someone who hides things from an audit. That's the whole point of money laundering.
