A president's most valuable skill is his ability to rally support for his agenda. I really don't understand how alienating one of the most power men in the Senate is going to further his tax reform bill or anything else he hopes to pass.

Getting any kind of tax reform passed is tough and it may well be impossible for Republicans this year. It takes 60 votes to advance an ordinary bill past a filibuster and there is almost no chance of getting enough democrat support for that to happen. So Republicans must turn to budget reconciliation which means an agreement in the House on both budget/tax bill so they can put instructions in the bill that will allow budget reconciliation and thus a 52 vote to pass in the Senate. This all has to happen before the end of year. And with the mad tweeter launching personal attacks on Republicans Senators, you can kiss any chance of a tax bill getting passed this year.

If it becomes clear to Wall Street that there is not going to be any tax reform in the near future, there will certainly be a major sell off in the stock market.
