Commerce and consumerism-culture is a very interesting and very modern phenomenon, and here's a capitalism-theosophy yarn I wrote involving the two folk-culture avatars Lubdan (fictional mischievous leprechaun from an American horror-film series representing fortune-paranoia) and Cupid (mythological 'cherub/angel' of contractual sentiment and sometimes romance) engaged in a 'relic-themed' competition regarding the values of commercialism and consumerism-culture.

It's eerie how consumerism makes it to 'easy' for everyday Americans to walk into stores and buy hand-guns, chainsaws, crossbows, etc. Meanwhile, we buy our kid water-guns and don't really think too much if the media (video games, movies, TV shows, even cartoons) promote unnatural violence.

So who should be the 'consumerism referee'?

Will it be President Trump?

LUBDAN: I'm fascinated by Target department stores!
CUPID: Consumerism makes shopping a 'decisive intelligence.'
LUBDAN: Maybe Richie Rich should be the 'new Uncle Sam.'
CUPID: There's nothing 'shallow' about capitalism...
LUBDAN: Really? Do you know how easy it is to purchase weapons?
CUPID: It's true, you can buy a Renegade crossbow from stores now.
LUBDAN: Or online! Kids buy water-guns for summer fun too...
CUPID: Commerce-related 'wagers' create humanity imagination!
LUBDAN: It also breeds mischief --- e.g., The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
CUPID: Horror-films signify a modern interest in 'accessible crime.'
LUBDAN: That's what the media and news are all about --- e.g., Gotham.
CUPID: What about Toys 'R Us and Facebook?
LUBDAN: Convenience is the hallmark of capitalism.
CUPID: To avoid gluttony and avarice, we should think about Valentine's Day!
LUBDAN: How can we coordinate Las Vegas with video-game metaphysics?
CUPID: I think you're referring to Monopoly (Parker Brothers).
LUBDAN: That popular American real-estate board game symbolizes democracy.
CUPID: Americans play it on their iPhones too...

After Lubdan and Cupid concluded their discussion regarding the 'values' of commerce-culture yielded intriguing insights into the 'deification' of 'consumerism trophies/relics' such as Ronald McDonald, Energizer, Microsoft, and the World Bank, Cupid wondered if he should go on a 'Valentine's Day crusade,' spreading the peaceful message of the Gospels so people would remember the general metaphysical value of shared labor in a capitalism-centric world. However, Lubdan stayed one step right behind Cupid, since he wanted to 'test' humanity's faith in the idealism behind commercialism and general capitalism. After 9/11, America was 'on-edge' about capitalism monuments.

When Valentine's Day arrived, Cupid was busy shooting arrows of love and romance so young Americans would start falling in love and buy each other romantic/sentimental greeting-cards and ribbons and candies and gifts (and generally feel 'optimistic' about 'TrumpUSA'). However, Lubdan was right there to send a pirate radio-signal which he used to relay the nihilistic message, "American men prefer Notre Dame college football TV to romantic love-marriage shows to watch with their wives/girlfriends!" Cupid knew Lubdan was right --- consumerism was a personal-choice 'system' which catered to 'personal biases' and hence to the 'inherent frailties' in human nature (e.g., gender differences).

Cupid came up with a brilliant solution to this commerce-culture 'problem.' Cupid began sending messages on Valentine's Day about the physical beauty of African-American Barbie dolls, which parents could buy for their young daughters who wanted to feel idealistic/optimistic about love and romance! Lubdan was furious, since he realized that these 'black Barbies' would have Americans indeed 'meditating' about the 'convenient accessibility' of the general human 'faith' in the simple 'beauty' of attraction between the sexes (plus, black Barbies promoted multiculturalism)! Lubdan conceded defeat, but he reminded Cupid, "Consumerism is a 'system' that breeds natural hunger."
