The Washington Post cites "people familiar with the matter" to report that the Manhattan District Attorney's Office has now hired a forensic accounting firm to help in its long-running investigation of Donald Trump's past and present business dealings. A series of press investigations during the Trump administration have suggested that the Trump Organization has for decades engaged not just in suspicious tax dodges, but bank fraud and other financial fraud; Trump himself still remains uncharged for the "hush money" financial deals that sent his longtime fixer, Michael Cohen, to prison.

Cyrus Vance is a poster boy for the obnoxious personality that New York is known for.

Trump's federal taxes are audited every year. Those who have been audited know that all audits end approximately the same way. You agree with the IRS on how much you know, you pay your taxes (or get a refund), and you move on. It is likely that the same process applies to NYS and NYC. No big deal.

What Vance hopes to do is find things done by the Trump organization that can be portrayed in a way that is embarrassing to the President. The NYT will run with the headlines, Trump will pay a fine or two, and that will be it.

Vance and the other NYC DA's should worry more about the increasing crime rate.

Trump isn't going to boost my Car or steal my packages from my apartment building lobby, or stick up the Mobil Mart across the street from me.

Hush money is illegal? LOL!

Oh, you can pay out all the hush money you want. But what you can't do is pay out all that hush money to influence an election, and not notate it in your financial reports.

Here is another thing you can't do. You can't insure your properties for hundreds of millions of dollars and then claim they are worth only tens of millions of dollars when you file property taxes. It is either insurance fraud or tax fraud, you can decide which one. And still another thing that you can't do is create a shell corporation to sell assets to another one of your corporations at inflated artificial prices in order to avoid the gift tax. And finally, you can't create a charity, make contributions to it, and then use the proceeds to buy a painting of yourself to display at one of your properties and claim the painting is a charitable contribution.

Oh wait, another thing you can't do is grossly inflate the value of your assets when selling them to a foreign buyer in order to meet the half million dollar threshold for citizenship. Yeah, the Trump family actively attempts to SELL American citizenships, even to the point of holding conferences in CHINA, Just buy one of their condos, built in an opportunity zone with government money, for half a million dollars when it is worth a couple hundred thousand.
