Some Republicans are secretly rooting for Donald Trump to lose the election in November for the sake of their party, according to reports.
Some of the GOP – including long-standing members who are publicly enthusiastic about a second Trump presidency – are secretly hoping the White House will go to his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, according to Politico.
Last week, conservative commentator Erick Erickson said on X that many Republicans are rooting for a Harris presidency with a GOP-controlled Senate in order to save their party.

Erik Erickson is not talking about never Trumpers but Republicans who support Trump is public but privately want to see him gone.
My feeling these folks are more prevalent in the GOP, than is commonly thought. Lip service to Trump in public; cursing him in private. But like so many in the GOP, they have had their spines ripped out by Trump and are no more then groveling cowards.
Trump is a disgrace to the Republican Party. . These Pubs just don’t want Trump defeated they are hoping that Harris wipes him off the map in order to rebuild the party.
I am not sure that even a Harris rout of Trump at the polls would wipe out Trumpism from the Pub party. It is part of their DNA now.
