I think it's entirely possible it will happen. The reality is that the "divorce" would be between rural and urban areas. The better accommodation would be for local governments to have more autonomy on all "social" issues. Ever heard of the "Greater Idaho" movement? Multiple Oregon counties are trying to secede and become part of Idaho because ONE county (Multnomah) holds the rest of the state hostage to the crazy scum that occupy PORTLAND.

We are on a fast road to dissolution based on a level of debt that is unsustainable so your "money" doesn't really matter. Most Red states are more than able to feed their own and sell to the blue cesspools. This fight, if it comes, will be due to Democrat Socialists/Marxists being unwilling to allow their neighbors the freedom to ignore the social justice bullshit.
