Masculinity on the Decline

Older people think the younger generation is less masculine then their generation!? A thought that is as old as the hills.

LOL true, but can you imagine today's college age "men" being asked to storm the beach at Normandy, for example?
They would be just as afraid as the guys that did storm the beach at normandy.
Be pretty hard for them to put down their I pads and I phones, carry the 100lb pack and gun while dodging bullets flying from the machine guns of the Democratic Socialist Workers Party. Funny how those evil Socialists were shooting at the young boys of the US, who just wanted to bring peace to the world. Why do socialists always want to try to take over the world and kill other peoples children?
Obviously you have never served in the military if you think they would be carrying their iphones and ipads into combat.
Yes I have been in the military but since you are as stupid as you keep proving, it is sarcasm pointing out that todays liberal man, just cant get his face out of his electronics.

No one believes you were in the military if you think guys are going to be on their iphones and ipads when storming the beach at normandy. You dont even believe that lie.

First you say men have cause most social ills, then you say it may or may not have anything to do with masculinity. Your last line says nothing. Could you expand on your remarks, please?
What exactly are you confused about? Masculinity is a social construct. We cant tell if men have messed up just because they are male or because they have an archaic notion of what masculinity is.
If I'm confused about anything, it is about why you are answering a question I directed at there4eyeM.
Because I felt like it. Any other silly questions?
Any more silly answers?
Depends on if you have any more dumb questions trying to deflect from the issue..
Uh huh. Go troll someone else. Have a masculine day!

Blame that war on John F Kennedy who was banging Marylyn Monroe. Seems that those liberals that get in trouble sexually, have to start some shit to divert the issue away from his womanizing with someone other than their wives. There were real men who had to go to that war, then there were sissy, pansy ass liberals who burned their draft card. William Jefferson Clinton became ..... Thanks dumbass liberals for that one...

Blame can as much be put on North Vietnam and the Viet Cong for the drawn out American involvement in their country. They were the big losers in that war. Stupidity reigned on both sides. The V.C. and N.V.A., especially after Tet, should have called a truce, signed some kind of treaty, laid low two years until the Yankees got bored and went home, then take over the country as the finally did, anyway.
The war wasn't Kennedy's fault, and he certainly didn't help things, either. His two successors both had the proverbial wives who always make love from on top. It was all wrong, what America did to Vietnam and to itself. Certain elements played the population to put on a show of force against 'Communism'. Youth was played for pawns. Russia and China profited politically from the 'struggle', watching American might and prestige getting ground down. A lot of otherwise fine young men, and not a few women, died for the inhuman decisions of their 'leaders'.
Blaming Vietnam for American involvement in their country is ridiculous. There never was a North or South Vietnam in reality. Vietnam was taken over by the Vietnamese, not the Americans or the French and these people kicked the Chinese out of their country more than once. Who were the losers in that war? The country who gave up their imperialistic desires. We dropped more bombs on the north than we dropped on Germany in WW2 and they weren`t the slightest bit impressed. The VC built fake tanks out of cardboard and sprinkled them liberally on hundreds of miles of the Ho Chi Minh trail and we spent millions blowing those cardboard tanks to bits. The North and the VC were big losers in that war? Who went home after pissing away 50,000 lives and thousands more wounded? We should have been paying reparations for this criminal act.

Yes, the U.S. lost tens of thousands. It lost great amounts of treasure. It lost enormous amounts of diplomatic currency, prestige and respect. But Vietnam lost millions, had their infrastructure devastated, suffered penury, pain and loss of family. They lost a lot more than the U.S., and all they got was their own country back.

You ignore what I said about their achieving their ends a lot earlier and a lot easier. You ignore as well that it was stated we can as much blame, not have to or mostly. Admit at least they did not play their cards really to their best advantage.
How they played their cards is of no concern to us. We went where we weren`t wanted or needed and were sent packing just like we did in Iraq. Ho Chi Minh and General Giap said the guerilla war would go on forever or until Americans tired of being bled physically and financially. If they had to send 5 American bodies home every week for a hundred years that`s what they would do. They weren`t going to be dominated by their long time enemy the Chinese nor did they want to become a French or American lackey country. No, they should not have called a truce after TET and showed the U.S. they were having second thoughts about surrendering. They never showed weakness but they did show determination. No western power could ever win a war of attrition in Asia. I`m pretty sure that it took them a couple hundred years to expel the Chinese so as far as achieving their goal sooner, that means absolutely nothing to the patient people of the East.
By my standards that attitude toward existence is abhorrent. It doesn't differ from how things effectively work in the occident, I know, but it certainly is not superior and can give no lessons.
They were mistaken to sacrifice so many young lives for nothing. If pride was all the reason, it is of the lowest order of human action, for pride is nothing.
They sacrificed lives to expel foreigners as they should. Would we just roll over for someone who comes here "for our own good"? I certainly hope not.

I wasnt trying anything. I was just pointing out that you deflected and you are obviously bothered by me pointing this out.

Has traditional masculinity gone out of style? Personally, I hope it makes a comeback.

Masculinity is on the decline in the United States, especially within the younger generation. See Pajama Boy, male millennial who swears he gets his period, and the rise of the male feminist as evidence.

Now, a recent survey conducted by YouGov in mid-May seems to confirm the same. The survey asked American men to rate their own masculinity on a scale from 0 to 6; 0 being “completely masculine” and 6 being “completely feminine.” The results showed major differences between generations and their own perceived masculinity.

Poll: Only 30 Percent of Young Men Identify As Completely ‘Masculine’

Traditional masculinity? Like where men wore wigs, makeup, lace, velvet and silk?

Maybe you should worry more about being decent
Not european masculinity. Although, diss that makeup and what you think is a sissyboy would skewer you right on the street.

they wore those things here, too.

damn, learn something. :cuckoo:

Thank you for your dedication to troll duty.

Men should be men.

Be leaders in their home, and love their wife and children more than themselves.
You can be a leader and not a dictator. Men need to be the ultimate "servant leader" to their families. Sacrificing their own wants/needs for their family - out of love and dedication. If it's done with resentment, you don't truly love your family.

I like the line where he says "we're talking about a man here, right?"... hilarious!
I don't care about that other stuff, just loving your wife/kids enough to happily sacrifice selfish non essential needs is enough :)

And here I thought I was posting on the US Massage board.

what? you too!!??? ;)

Like it or not, you are role models - men - and especially those in the spotlight.

Media and other "sources" tell us we need more that just a job, wife and kids. You can find joy and excitement in that.
But you have to work at it.

Work.
My dogs look up to me.

that's why people prefer dogs to people..... easier to manage.....

I find that there are still plenty of masculine men around. I don't like guys who are constantly bragging about how masculine they are though. REAL men don't need to brag. They also don't run around on the internet acting like "tough guys." There is a big difference between being masculine and being childish and immature, IMO.
