Four men were taken to hospital with bullet wounds to their legs after a shooting in Birmingham.

Police said they were called to the Costcutter shop in Great Hampton Row, north of the city centre, on Saturday.

Three men remain in hospital for treatment for their injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

West Midlands Police refused to speculate on any motive for the attack. There were no arrests and no direct appeal for witnesses.

yes....the only real way to stem the violence is long prison sentences. You will find if you look into it that most gun crime gets fairly light sentences.....we had 3 guys shoot up a park in Illinois...2 of them had already been convicted of gun crimes and had been sentenced to only 3 years...and that turned out to be less than 2 actually served because the judge and the prosecutor directed them to a "boot camp." Shortly after they got out the shot and killed people in that park.

Just 2 weeks ago in Chicago a major gun trafficker ....he had 43 guns he was trying to sell in Chicago..was sentenced...to 3 years...he will serve less than 2....

And he was caught without licensing normal gun owners, without registering guns and without universal background checks...the police caught him because of an informant...just like all the other crimes......

Our current problem with gun murder comes from one source......generations of boys raised in single parent, teenage mother families. Boys raised without fathers, who should have taught them how to be men...and it has been going on since the 60s....

Put fathers back in the home....real fathers...and our gun murder rate will go down.

If you are interested, there are articles that talk about sentencing laws and how prosecutors and judges just aren't taking gun possession crimes by violent criminals seriously....

The Chicago police Commissioner was talkiing about how violent offenders in chicago, caught in possession of guns are out in days......when they should be doing years....

He pointed out that the guy who murdered Hidea Pendleton, the girl shot in obama's neighborhood, had a long criminal history and should not have had a gun since he was already a felon...he got caught in possession of a gun in November, and was out 2 months later when he shot and killed the girl......

Despite some of the tightest gun control on the planet, a British man was able to acquire a handgun, extended mags and explosives as part of a plot to attack his former school.

Liam Lyburd, 19, of Newcastle upon Tyne, was sentenced to life imprisonment this week on eight charges of possessing weapons with intent to endanger life.

As noted by the BBC, Lyburd gathered a cache that included a Glock 19, three 33-round magazines, 94 hollow-point bullets, CS gas, five pipe bombs and two other improvised explosive devices despite the country’s long history of civilian arms control.

According to court documents, Lyburd planned to use the weapons in an attack on Newcastle College, from which he had been expelled two years prior for poor attendance. He was arrested last November after two Northumbria Police constables visited him at his home on a tip from an individual who encountered threats and disturbing pictures posted by Lyburd online.

Despite a defense that portrayed the reclusive man as living in a fantasy world, Lyburd was found guilty in July.

The internet-savvy teen obtained the Glock and other items through Evolution Marketplace, a successor to the Silk Road, a long-time “dark web” site in which users could buy and sell everything from illegal narcotics to munitions using Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

In court, Lyburd testified that buying the Glock was so easy it was “like buying a bar of chocolate.”

He obtained funds for his purchases through a complex extortion scheme in which he used online malware to infect computers, which he in turn held for ransom from their owners.
