McDonald's to Raise Wages

How about raising the quality of their poison...eh... I mean, food.

and the IQ of their workers....eek

90, 000 is a drop in the bucket. 92 million out of work

"92 million out of work"

Conservative "math"???

Actually, it's more than that. For February 2015, there were 8.7M Unemployed and 92M people Not In the Labor Force. For the Math Challenged, that is over 100M people not working out of an adult population of 250M. Just think about the tax burden on the 60% with jobs. 1.5 working adults per 1 non-working adult. And 6.6M of the ones who are working are doing part time jobs because they can't find full time ones. How Hopey-Changey is that?

Not the whey the assembly trays are set up...

I have no idea what curds, whey, or cottage cheese have to do with this.

But McDondalds has been edging toward greater automation, such as auto-fryers, clam-shell grills, and self-serve ordering kiosks for years. This announcement will coincide with the roll out.
 You idiots drool over failed self-serve ordering kiosks eliminating jobs for decades. Automating food servers kills revenue. This is why McDonald's is adding table food service people where they install smart phone & kiosks ordering. Without workers, they will be out of business. Just ask Bamn Automat in NYC that only lasted 2 years.

You idiots drool over failed self-serve ordering kiosks

the wheel is more efficient, it took billions of jobs, and we are all far far richer because of it.

it seems simple but the liberal will lack the IQ to understand it. Believe it or not.

This, along with Wal-Mart's announcement that they will also raise pay, is a sign the economy is getting better.

McDonald’s Corp. plans to raise pay by more than 10% and add benefits like paid vacation for workers at U.S. restaurants it operates, an effort to rejuvenate the struggling fast-food giant that offers fresh evidence of rising wage pressure in the American labor market.

Starting July 1, McDonald’s will pay at least $1 per hour more than the local legal minimum wage for employees at the roughly 1,500 restaurants it owns in the U.S. The increase, which McDonald’s said will apply to some 90,000 workers at all levels of experience and rank, will lift the average hourly rate for its U.S. restaurant employees to $9.90 on July 1 and more than $10 by the end of 2016, from $9.01 currently. McDonald’s also will enable workers after a year of employment to accrue up to five days of paid time-off annually.

Perhaps, which goes to show that dealing with wages through self advocacy between one's self and one's employer is a far superior solution to dealing with low wages than resorting to government action.

perhaps protests paid off in that some workers will get higher wages but that means all of us can afford to eat out less often now due to the higher prices and so some fast food workers will lose their jobs.

Yeah, BECAUSE without a federal Min wage they'd be making $3 an hour in states like Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, etc *shaking head*

Sorry, Gov't action created the worlds largest middle class using PROGRESSIVE policies. Without it the US would look like the 3rd world nation we were (and cons are trying to take US back too)

Retirement Among Baby Boomers Contributing To Shrinking Labor Force. According to The Washington Post, many economists agree the shrinking labor force participation rate is largely explained by a demographic shift, wherein "baby boomers are starting to retire en masse"

Demographics have always played a big role in the rise and fall of the labor force. Between 1960 and 2000, the labor force in the United States surged from 59 percent to a peak of 67.3 percent. That was largely due to the fact that more women were entering the labor force while improvements in health and information technology allowed Americans to work more years.

But since 2000, the labor force rate has been steadily declining as the baby-boom generation has been retiring. Because of this, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago expects the labor force participation rate to be lower in 2020 than it is today, regardless of how well the economy does.

Sorry, Gov't action created the worlds largest middle class using PROGRESSIVE policies.

dear economic growth from stone age to here came from new inventions that we all can afford to buy. Progressives don't invent a thing!!

capitalism forces a business to pay the highest wages possible and offer the best products possible. It seems simple but a liberal will lack the IQ to understand this.

Poor Dense Moron ^^^ Boomer retirement is only part of the story. The real issue is that the LFP amoung young people, especially minorities is dismal. The LFP for older workers is actually increasing. I'd encourage you to do the math, but that just not a fair expectation.

U6 is 11%, 40 % higher than before recession, because so many who want to work can't thanks to Barry's liberal policies.
