The electoral college is an anachronism that mostly gets ignored. The reason why it's not a big deal is because, usually, the person who wins the popular vote wins the EC. Making what we are doing on Monday usually a ceremony, not a function.

On Monday, 309 electors, most of whom know Trump is going to be a disaster, are going to vote for him anyway even though the people said... NO.

And they'll own him when he fucks up everything.

Most history classes will tell you the EC was a straight up shady deal to mollify the slave rapists.
