I think what we are seeing is MORE government not more hunger. They changed the poverty guidelines and expanded the USDA food program and here in our area they even have a van that goes around in the SUMMER to give out free lunches. WOW that's a lot of local government - that's what I see happening since he got in. The Messiah and his dempostles are using their authority to heal the sick and feed the poor!

More government creates more hunger. The rising cost of food, the increasing unemployment, the continued *shut down* mentality when it comes to production and industry lead to hunger.

I'm seeing more and more people who will say outright, "I don't have enough money to buy food for the month" and mean it..including people who are receiving foodstamps.

I attribute that to the economic down turn. Its an effect of less economic growth at the local level and now that some of the government assistance has been exhausted for these people they turn to more extreme measures. I say though some of these individuals have been hurt also, because of personal issues like drug addiction, arrest records, and they are uneducated in some cases. Making it harder for them to adapt to changing conditions so they can support themselves and their families.

I guess the biggest question is can you still be obese and be starving?

No. But you can be obese and malnourished. You can be both skinny and overfat at the same time too. Very thin people often carry more fat than muscle.

We don't know what starving is in this country because we've never seen it. Starving means 30 minutes late for snack time.

For adults, maybe.

Not for kids. They always starve before the adults, and we're beginning to see the beginnings of it..it will get worse.

There are no starving children in the US. If they were starving, I guarantee you that they would be scarfing down that crap food they get in school instead of throwing it away. Which is exactly what the government wants. It is what they are working towards. Children should be so hungry when they come to school, they will eat what's given to them. What's stopping that is that parents are still feeding children at home.

Here's the problem...Obama does things which in turn exhaust these programs...but he claims that by doing those things, he's alleviating the problem.

He isn't. It's a power/money grab and he's holding almost all the cards now. People de-moralized, desperately poor, dependent upon government programs that perpetuate that state....while the government continues to steal assets, threaten the church, and eliminate all capitalist enterprise.

That's also counter to liberty. Gun control? Yep, that's a counter to liberty. Giving women this notion that they can choose? Yeah, filling someone with a false idea of freedom is counter to liberty. In this instance you have a government fighting for the right to tell a woman what she can or cannot put into her body. Government mandated healthcare? Counter to liberty. A liberal president issuing executive orders and overriding Congress? You guessed it, a counter to liberty.

WHEN have conservatives EVER given us less government? Conservative's definition of less government is socialism for the elite and corporations, and a FEE market for the rest of us. Opening the gate to let the wolves into the hen house is not liberty, unless you are a wolf.
