It is unknown and unknowable whether President Trump would have withheld the funds permanently or had reasons other than the lack of progress/announcement of a Biden investigation to delay release of the funds.

In the real world, having a plausible and proper explanation for your actions is sufficient to avoid criminal culpability, and no court will presume the worst when such an innocent explanation exists. But Democrats reside in some other world in this, as in everything, and if any nefarious purpose can be suggested, that is sufficient to establish guilt - beyond a reasonable doubt.

It is the same with the payments to the sluts. If the payments were plausibly to avoid embarrassment, the criminal case is dead. They were NOT "illegal campaign contributions." End of story.

If Biden did anything, the President has access to legal governmental agencies that can investigate it and could have for the last 3 years. He didn't need his personal lawyer going in and trying to pressure the Ukrainian president into ANNOUNCING (not conducting) but ANNOUNCING an investigation. They didn't actually have to do it.
