My Brother is a Cop and It's Getting Bad

Why would he run the plates? Did the guy do something wrong? How did he know who was in the car?

If there are no active calls they'll run plates at random. Sometimes they'll do it if the driver is driving suspiciously.
"driving suspiciously"???
what does that even mean???

thats a reason right there to not trust cops,,,

Timothy McVeigh was caught because a sharp eyed trooper noticed he was driving suspiciously .

Ignoramus

He stopped him because the car he was driving didn't have a license. Interesting enough, even though he was doing something illegal he told the officer he had a loaded handgun and didn't get killed unlike Philandro Castillo who had done nothing wrong.
For some strange reason the racist white propagandists in the media minimize the officer's name from the HYPED news.

Jeronimo Yanez is the name.

Guess why that name isn't repeated over and over and over and over again.

You know what? Don't. Please go tell some Africans how bad it is for you in America.

Thousands protest after Philando Castile shooting verdict; 18 arrested
Leave it to one of you mentally enslaved to not get the point.

Have you prepared your escape to Cuba from this land of tyranny? Let us know how things work out.

I'm not going anywhere. You work to change what is wrong with where you are.
Yeah, of course. Like the hundreds of thousands of people that die attempting to escape those socialist paradises that you want here.

You really are stooge of white liberal propaganda. Go find an actual African and tell him how bad things are here in America with 7 Elevens and KFC restaurants and how bad it is for commie Kaepernick who is being paid $50 million dollars as a virtue signaling victim by a company that has a well documented horrific reputation of labor practices with their factories in Vietnam and Pakistan.

They may need to be more disgusted by you than they already are.

You know how pawns work in Chess?

You are the one arguing the authoritarian position.

You know what the opposite of having authority is? Chaos and anarchy.

View attachment 352256

Yeah, we need authority, to have a civilized society. His argument is a good one. Your argument sucks.
the opposite of authority is no authority,,
and it has nothing to do with a civilized society as we have seen in all the fascist and communist societies/countries,,,

Sure it does. You can't have a civilized society, without authority.
hitler, stalin and moa had authority to do what they did,,,
are you saying those were civilized societies???

Extremely civilized. Especially in Stalins Russia, crime was virtually non-existent. People were polite, and people were very civilized.

Because obviously if you were not civilized in Stalin's Russia, you ended up in a gulag.

Mao was the same. Hitler was the same. Germany was very civilized. So was China.

If you want to see what uncivilized is, look at Sudan, or Rwanda in the 90s. When the police basically left the area, and people walked around with machetes, and cut people to be ribbons, and laughed and enjoyed it.

Having no authority results in looting riots killing.

Even oppressive and abusive authority is better than chaos and anarchy.

But you seem to be implying that wanting authority, means Stalin Mao, and Hitler.

Ridiculous. We want absolute authority, within the confines of protecting people's rights.

For example Singapore. Singapore has one of the toughest and most well enforced laws in the world. You are safer in Singapore, than almost any tourist destination in the world.

In a city of 5 million, they have less than 10 murders a year, and sometimes zero.

But people are not being shipped off to gulags, like Stalin, or gas-showers like Hitler, or being rolled over by tanks, like China.

Yet they have strict clear authority. You come to Singapore transporting drugs, you get hanged. They don't mess around. You vandalize a bunch of cars in Singapore, you get cained.

When a dumb US student went to Singapore in 1994, and thought he could vandalize property like in the US, where we basically do nothing to them... (or even if they loot and burn half the city it seems).... in Singapore they dragged his but to jail, convicted his dumb butt in court, and sent him to (if I remember right) 40 lashes with a cane.

And they beat that student hard, so he was screaming. Then they let him go.

AND RIGHTLY SO.

This is why the people of Singapore are not oppressed. They are freer than people here in the US. Because they ruthlessly enforce the laws.

We had a lady from Singapore come debate some Americans from New York. The dumb New Yorker woman was sitting there "But you can't do stuff in Singapore, you are not free!"

The Singapore woman responded that she is more free than the New Yorker was. She can go absolutely anywhere in the entire city of Singapore, at any time of the year, at any time of the day, with zero fear of even having a pick pocket, let alone being beaten in central park, or raped or murdered.

Authority is required for civilized society. The more of it you have, the more free and the more civil society becomes.
good morals is all thats needed for a civilized society to exist,,,

Welcome to reality. People don't have good morals.

Let me tell you a quick story.

This was 20 years ago now. I was in college. I was working at a Cadillac car dealership, that was across the street from the college.

In class, there was a lady sitting next to me, and we got to talking. One day she found out that I worked at the Cadillac dealership. She ask me, if I could get her one of those gold Cadillac emblems for her son, because he would put in on his backpack for school.

So I mentioned to her, that those emblems are actually rather expensive, but I could get a discount if she wanted me to buy it for her.

"Oh no no, I don't mean buy it. I mean, you know, if you see one that you could get without anyone noticing".

She was asking me to steal it. And this didn't even make her flinch. It was as causal as, if you find a dandelion on the way in, could you pick one for me.

Stealing and thievery, even from the employer that paid my wages, was normal, common, and acceptable in her world. And this lady was a mother raising a son.

You say all you need is morals for civil society to exist.... yeah, and you need enforced laws, to instill in people good morals.

Without laws that are ruthlessly enforced, there will be no morals.

I'll give you two direct examples.

After the riots and protests in Chicago and Baltimore, police dramatically reduced their patrols and policing.

Crime dramatically increased in both areas. Waves of killings and such spread across those areas.

So let me ask you.... did morals magically decline? No. Morals didn't change. Policing did.

The same will happen in cities across America today, as police pull back. We've already seen it.

Called for police 19 times, they refused to show up. They don't want to be charged with murder, after a looter fights with police and ends up shot.

What moral values do you think is spread by this widely publicized story? Looters know nothing will happen. It's now 'safe' to loot places, even if the owner is there, because nothing will happen to them.

If you think all you need is moral values.... then knock yourself out man. Go prove it. Go see how that works for you.

What is funny, is even the anti-police "defund the police" CHAZ people know, that you need law enforcement. That's why they have armed militias patrolling.
sorry but I'm not interested in your story,,more so since you think that societies that murdered well over 100 million people are civilized,,,

Bad time to be a cop

They have lost the trust and goodwill of the public. Much of it is undeserved but the public has reached an “enough is enough” point.

It will take a while to patch things up.
The computer systems need to be cleaned up. And anyone caught up for any reason needs to receive reparations for pain and suffering. And we need to go back some decades with this. A lot of localities and counties and states are going to pay up if this happens. And deservedly so.
and there it is ....the good ole gibbs me dat chant from the bums.

Right, so you can't see that the two are not mutually exclusive? Sad that you can't even see the false presupposition.

Apparently I over estimated the intellect I was talking to.

"Protestors" were rewarded with concessions. A Chicago cop got fired for flipping the bird at a protestor.

Government officials all over the country buckled like the spineless cowards they are and started discussions to defund the police.

Concessions are being made to demands made under threat of force. That never ends well, and it's not going well.

Cops are now targets because their local governments came out in defense of those who want them pilloried and turned on them as sacrifices to the mob.

It's a fucking disgrace. It's a disservice to the police. It's a disservice to the community that was laid siege to. It is a dereliction of duty for these assholes elected to mayoral and gubernatorial positions who have laid down on the ground for this shit, and now the obvious end result will be more of it.

It's disgusting to watch the hashtag army run roughshod with no penalties and, instead, get their way through riots and looting. What is brewing in the pot is nothing but more poison as a result.

We were supposed to have dinner at my brother's house yesterday, but he called me up when he got home from his shift and cancelled. He wanted to just chill after the shift he worked yesterday. He patrols a higher crime neighborhood, which is mostly blacks, and he said the past couple of weeks have gotten really bad. People aren't respectful at all. They're rude and belligerent towards him. He's been called names, taunted, it's been constant chaos. He stopped a car yesterday because the guy came up with a warrant in the system. Immediately, when he had the guy step out of his car he started screaming something about George Floyd and then became nasty and resistant. My brother and his partner, who arrived shortly after, had to tackle the guy to the ground in order to get him restrained. While this was going on he said a dozen or so blacks came running up on them, whipping out their phones recording, calling them names, taunting them. He said it was super nerve racking because in the middle of the skirmish he had no idea if any of these other people, who had no business being up that close to them, were going to run up and attack them from behind. He said it was like being in the middle of a zoo. He is starting to consider leaving the department at this point because it's become incredibly dangerous for them.

And my brother is Asian and the officer who responded to back him up is Hispanic, so this wasn't even a white cop thing; it's just an anyone in uniform thing. We're told we should be judging people by their character and not their skin color, but apparently these same people think it's fine to judge anyone in a uniform as evil.

Why would he run the plates? Did the guy do something wrong? How did he know who was in the car?

Plates get run as a normal course standard to check for stolen vehicles, dummy.

Was there a report of such a car being stolen? If not they have no reason to run the plates

Running plates does not violate anyone's Constitutional rights. An officer can run plates, find out the car is clean and go back to patrolling all without the driver even knowing. You're aware of this, yes?

If you have a problem with this then you must have a problem with having your license and car plates on record at the DMV.

and again, it does NOT prove the person in the car is wanted.

If the car turns out to be stolen, the driver IS wanted now. For driving a stolen car. Duh.

Good for him, doing his job even in this poisonous atmosphere while the politicians surrender to every demand made by the mobs.
obviously the police need to be reformed and we have to put more money into mental health and cover everyone for healthcare and give them a living wage and cheap college and training like every other rich country. This is ridiculous only brainwashed. Could give us this mess. The worst inequality and upward mobility ever and anywhere is not a joke. It is a secret from you idiots though.
just the kind of thing that happens when our president is a hateful divider in Chief.

Yeah, but enough about that twat Obama.
Ridiculous right wing idiocy. He did bring out the racists who listen to Fox and all the ridiculous phony scandals you believe in that never went anywhere in the real world.

The vast majority of things police get called to aren't crimes, have nothing to do with crimes. We ask our police to do crap that no one else wants to do, to handle situations that they aren't trained to handle.

how did they know he had a warrant before they ran the plates???
visual? They have meetings before their shifts,

Obviously the politicians who prioritize community relations over good police work and who foster distrust of police by siding against them in every complaint need to be reform. In none of these cases is there any evidence that police actions were motivated by racism, yet weak, corrupt, incompetent politicians, such as we see in Atlanta continue to rant about racism instead of reviewing their own failed policies of prioritizing community relations over making arrests and keeping order.

again, why do they think they can talk for everyone? I thought that's what we had government for? since when did we do policy by violence against our neighbors? that was the civil war, when did that end? how many dead? is that really what they want again? 600,000 dead?

Authority and Authoritarian have different meanings.

ooooo... Ok. Please detail very specifically, what the difference is, in your opinion.

It's not an opinion.

Authority.

a person or organization having power or control in a particular, typically political or administrative, sphere.

Authoritarian

favoring or enforcing strict obedience to authority, especially that of the government, at the expense of personal freedom.

So you know that stopping someone from committing rape, is a loss of personal freedom?

Because that's where the rub comes.

Government is there to protect personal freedom. Such as my property. I think if someone breaks into my car, that they should be shot.

Because that is a violation of personal freedom. My personal freedom.

Do you look on government ruthlessly enforcing those laws, as "authoritarian" when they are protecting the rights of law abiding people?

Because what I am seeing is that people who claim to be against "authoritarianism", end up just being anarchists who defend criminals, who are abusing the public and violating the personal freedom of others.

What I see, is that people can quote the correct definitions, and then support the opposite of what those definitions mean. They say "they support protection of personal freedom" and then defend every single criminal they meet, and never once care about the victims.

We are speaking by and large where there are no victims. Millions of people are arrested every year and no one is protesting the vast majority of those arrests.

If not they have no reason to run the plates and again, it does NOT prove the person in the car is wanted.
Put on the uniform, them your opinion will matter.
again, he doesn't understand that a cop goes into an unpredictable scenario on every shift. nut jobs, whack jobs, murders, rapers, pedophiles, any form of criminal, domestic disputes. they don't get that they want their lives protected too. I can't help stupid.

Incompetent local politicians thrive in most Democrat cities.
Their electorate will soon be croaking like boiling frogs!

Duh.

The car wasn't stolen.
