No problem helping farmers or livestock family's, but some of you are living in the past, there is a guy sitting behind a desk or at best sitting in an air conditioned huge tractor. most of the farm money go's to big corporate farms. policy's of the 80's killed off a large part of our small family owned farms.

Less policies than economies of scale. Massive farms can simply produce more efficiently than can small family owned farms.

You're right. The republicans do a horrible job of marketing what they want to sell. It's one reason Trump got elected. He's not good at much, but he's good at marketing himself, and by extension, the stuff he wants to do.

Republicans just assume people know what socialism is, or what they want it to mean, without actually explaining it or explaining it as they understand it. If they would just say "hey, would you work as hard if you knew that you wouldn't see any benefits in your paycheck? Because that's what people ask themselves when a given space is socialized, leading to everyone thinking that someone else will do it." Something more real-world to explain it when the other side is selling a rosy picture of it is required for it to move the needle.

I don't think the banks crashed the economy on purpose with the foreknowledge that they would get bailed out.
I also don't think the banks needed to lobby, I think the government didn't have much of a choice in the matter. The market was frozen.

I understand that the ruling class owns our government, it's been like that forever. You don't need a pet name for it to excuse the failures of the capitalist system. If government didn't exist, capitalists would still collude in an effort to dominate the market, which is essentially what they did in the lead up to the financial crisis of '08.
