BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The families of more than a dozen victims of the 2012 school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, will split $1.5 million under settlements of lawsuits filed against the gunman's mother's estate.
A lawyer for several victims' families says the settlements were finalized Dec. 17 in documents filed in Bridgeport Superior Court.
The lawsuits said Nancy Lanza failed to properly secure her legally owned Bushmaster AR-15 rifle. Her son, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, used the rifle to kill 20 first-graders and six educators at Sandy Hook Elementary School on Dec. 14, 2012. He killed his mother before the school shooting and killed himself afterward.

And this is wrong….they shouldn't get one penny. The woman did not give the rifle to her son…..he murdered her and he stole it. Hopefully they will sue the actual people responsible…those who passed the gun free zone legislation that made their children's school a gun free killing zone for the killer.

Any son that doesn't love his mother doesn't deserve to draw another breath. I'm sorry about the horrible thing he did to others especially his dear mom. I'm glad he killed himself and hope he burns in hell, but he must have been a real nut case. Maybe she had reason to own that gun for self defense against her son, but he got to it before she had a chance. We don't really know all the details for sure.

But despite what seemed like mental health warning signs, the police found a check in the Lanza home for a CZ 83 pistol, which Nancy Lanza intended to give to her son over the holidays, according to a report released by a Connecticut state's attorney. The check’s date section read “Christmas Day.”

No…had her son not murdered her and stolen the guns and then committed the act of murder, those people would be alive….it is on the shooter, and on no one else.

Regarding the gun manufacturer, That seems questionable. I would think that kind of law suit depends on individual state laws/statues.
