No better way to energize the DEM voters than to block Obama's nominations...

It's telling the way that you have to spin the actions of your ideological opponents to put them in the worst possible light.

They are doing what they think is right.

YOu are narrow minded.

How else can you explain it?

The court has leaned right since Nixon. During that time, Democrats have repeatedly approved justices that would keep the court conservative.

Now, when it appears the court will finally lean left, Republicans are terrorized and threatening to block any appointment that will take away "their court"

They are doing what they think it right.

They are not "picking up their ball and going home".

Your need to marginalize anyone the resists your agenda is an aspect of your being narrow minded.

Yes it is.....Picking up their ball and going home

When things don't go the way conservatives want they resort to extortion or temper tantrums

25 Democrats voted to confirm Alito....How many Republicans will support Obamas pick?

And which party used the nuclear option to force regressives into the lower courts? Making sure the supreme court remains somewhat conservative is the only way to counter that.

Republicans were taking their ball and going home in the lower courts too

If they didn't get to select the judge...nobody could
They blocked all appointments leaving the seats unfilled

Looks like we may need the nuclear option to fill the Scalia vacancy also

Your "take ball and go home" is nothing but spin.

WINNING!

President Obama has seen 20 unanimous defeats before the Supreme Court Pduring the five and a half years of his presidency, a pace that outstrips former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, according to a review of his record since 2009 by Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas).

Read more at: Ted Cruz: Obama's 20 Unanimous Supreme Court Losses Outpace Bush and Clinton, by Joel Gehrke, National Review

20?
Are you sure? Why don't you name some of those cases so we can see the magnitude of the decision

What did Obama win?
Obamacare (twice), Same sex marriage

Beat that pal

So much for a conservative lock, huh, RW?

Alito was an almost good choice.
obamas choice will be a total piece of shit.
cant compare the two.

I get it
You are conservative and oppose any candidate a liberal President would nominate. But almost 70 million Americans said they want Obama to do the nominating

When Republicans were President, Democrats allowed them to fill the vacancies with conservative judges. Even when it ensured there would be a conservative court

Republicans refuse to do the same

Because democrats don't have to fear that republican nominees are going to just make shit up on the bench and remake the nation in the process.

THe two sides are not the same.

Like Citizens United? That ruling, without a doubt has changed our political process for the worse.

The congress of the United States has the power to remove the supreme court's jurisdiction over many controversial cases such as gun control, abortion, gay marriage, etc, etc. It is rarely ever used but here it is:

In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make

The precedents that seem to have built up something like case law can simply be remove from the system by popular vote. Don't you guys just hate that democracy thing? With this power we no longer have to tolerate an unelected council of oligarchs determining the 'case law' of this country.

kaz said:
Yep. Ask the average American to name 3 people on the Supreme Court. Shit, ask them to name one.

Ask the Average American who Clinton defeated in 1996 and I doubt many would recall it being Bob Dole
LOL. I say voters are ignorant about the supreme court today and you come back with oh yeah, well, they're ignorant about politics 20 years ago too! And that establishes what exactly? That you agree with me? Voters are ignorant?

BTW, about half the residents on the streets of New York on Hannity's man on the street test can't identify the Secretary of State or even the VEEP. And you think they're going to shit a brick over a supreme court nominee. Too funny

So, you want to vote for Democrats to rob other people at gunpoint and give you cash for playing? Um...yeah...sure. Well, I would but I'm busy that day
I'm not sure how any of that mindles drivel fits into our discussion

:wtf:

That IS our discussion. Democrats are Democrats because they support government taking money from other people by force and giving it to them.

You're arguing there are "droves" of greedy Democrats out there who while supporting candidates who promise them other people's money can't be bothered to vote. But while they don't know who the Secretary of State is and can't name but maybe one supreme court member, they are going to flip out about Obama's nomination not getting a vote.

Can you spell preposterous?

It will be wonderful to see Dems turning out in droves to install HRC because the GOP is obstructing Obama's nominations....

I haven't said it for a while but eventually the GOP will run out of either toes or bullets. It seems as though they have found another foot's worth of toes to aim at.

So there are "droves" of Dems who don't give a shit to vote who will suddenly show up over blocking a supreme court nominee?

You seriously believe that?
Yes I do.
Here is why.

It speaks to a basic American belief in fairness and where that belief intersects with a high profile cause, those who are thought to be responsible have to change the rules eventually.

You see it most often with Sports since its so high profile. When the overtime rules were thought to be unfair to the team that lost the coin flip, the NFL and NCAA changed the rules. When the USGA was having the LPGA and PGA tournaments at exclusive country clubs, pressure came about to make them change the policy. Now you don't have that any longer although invitational events are still held at exclusive clubs from time to time.

Greedy socialists won't show up to hug trees, save whales or vote themselves other people's money, but obama doesn't get a supreme court nominee, whoa, just stand back. Better get more volunteers to work the polls! OMG, Republicans blocked a Supreme Court nominee, it's going to be bedlam!

Um...sure...let's go with that...

Well, what you're doing here is drastically mis-characterizing what I'm saying and then making fun of your own work. Good job.

Folks who may be indifferent about HRC will not be indifferent about a SC Nominee blocked and not receiving a hearing. The odd independent or republican who is a "strict constitutionalist" will balk at the idea that a President doesn't get to nominate a justice due to the vacancy being in the 4th year of their term.

Democrats are for fairness, that's classic. And you go ahead and delude yourself that "droves" of people who wouldn't be bothered to vote are going to over the supreme court. Almost everyone who even knows about the issue is already going to vote

Fairness is a big thing among voters. It's why Romney lost (one of the galaxy of reasons); he pays less income tax than those who work for a living on dividend income. It was a master stroke getting him to admit that....

Treat Obama's nominees fairly or suffer the issue at the ballot box.

You think that's why Romney lost? Seriously?

You mean like Roberts finding that government setting up health care exchanges and dictating what insurance you can buy is a tax? Or that government then paying for it for millions of citizens is a tax?

What about Kennedy finding that government taking property from one citizen and giving it to another (New London) is "public use?"

Granted zero of the Democrats ever find anything isn't in the Constitution, but to say we don't have to "fear" republicans is wow, ridiculous I live in fear of that on every ruling

It's a bad ruling but it did actually make the whole Buy a Vote process more honest. Oddly enough, we might stop making our elections for sale once again.

I wasn't going to vote for Shrillary if she became the dem nominee, until cons made the Scalia replacement the #1 issue. Now I have no choice.

Some voters will go that way. It's throw the bums out time, you're the bums, and you are refusing to govern. Everyone is sick to death of that even if they don't mind in the case of the Supreme Court.

That is fair, but the dems aren't the ones who give a shit about that.

When "our" guys play that game it ends up being a win for the dems/libs.

I agree, and I agree Republicans should not nominate another communist to the bench before obama leaves, it would just be stupid

Fascism is left, it's a form of socialism. Sorry you got stuck going to a government school, man.

BTW, the best way to treat that hangover is to drink lots of water and take aspirin. At least that's what works best for me

No right-minded individual will vote for Pantsuit. I'd vote for a burning pile of dog shit before I'd vote for that lying, power-hungry old hag.
