No better way to energize the DEM voters than to block Obama's nominations...

It will be wonderful to see Dems turning out in droves to install HRC because the GOP is obstructing Obama's nominations....

I haven't said it for a while but eventually the GOP will run out of either toes or bullets. It seems as though they have found another foot's worth of toes to aim at.
I think the majority of people who vote Democrat have no fucking clue what a nominee is.

So there are "droves" of Dems who don't give a shit to vote who will suddenly show up over blocking a supreme court nominee? You seriously believe that? Greedy socialists won't show up to hug trees, save whales or vote themselves other people's money, but obama doesn't get a supreme court nominee, whoa, just stand back. Better get more volunteers to work the polls! OMG, Republicans blocked a Supreme Court nominee, it's going to be bedlam!

Um...sure...let's go with that...

Would they? I don't know that the average voter even pays attention to this shit. Either way, the president has the right to appoint a new justice and the Senate should give his nomination a vote.

Yep. Ask the average American to name 3 people on the Supreme Court. Shit, ask them to name one.

You seriously believe that?
Yes I do.
Here is why.

It speaks to a basic American belief in fairness and where that belief intersects with a high profile cause, those who are thought to be responsible have to change the rules eventually.

You see it most often with Sports since its so high profile. When the overtime rules were thought to be unfair to the team that lost the coin flip, the NFL and NCAA changed the rules. When the USGA was having the LPGA and PGA tournaments at exclusive country clubs, pressure came about to make them change the policy. Now you don't have that any longer although invitational events are still held at exclusive clubs from time to time.

Well, what you're doing here is drastically mis-characterizing what I'm saying and then making fun of your own work. Good job.

Folks who may be indifferent about HRC will not be indifferent about a SC Nominee blocked and not receiving a hearing. The odd independent or republican who is a "strict constitutionalist" will balk at the idea that a President doesn't get to nominate a justice due to the vacancy being in the 4th year of their term.

Ask the Average American who Clinton defeated in 1996 and I doubt many would recall it being Bob Dole. Of course, if you asked that question in 1996, you'd have a much higher % of Americans who knew the candidates. If the GOP makes an issue out it...the Democrats will be quite happy to pummel the GOP over their empty craniums with it.

They managed. LOL.

Democrats are for fairness, that's classic. And you go ahead and delude yourself that "droves" of people who wouldn't be bothered to vote are going to over the supreme court. Almost everyone who even knows about the issue is already going to vote

Non sequitur, knowing anything about the supreme court today versus knowing the candidates in an election two decades ago is irrelevant.

So, you want to vote for Democrats to rob other people at gunpoint and give you cash for playing? Um...yeah...sure. Well, I would but I'm busy that day.

OMG, Republicans are blocking a lawyer from joining the Supremes! What! OMG, get the car! i'm going to vote! that's not fair!

LOL, you believe it because you want to

No idiot....

When persons are in the news, when GOP obstruction is in the news, when McConnell's long detailed history of animosity toward the man and not just the office is in the new--and every DNC PAC will make sure the swing state voters know all about it--people take interest.

The reference to 1996 paralells the your reference to today's Supreme court. Sure, passively, a lot of people don't know a habeus from a corpus but they do understand that the President nominates replacement for vacancies and the Senate approves/rejects them. When they do not get a fair hearing...it will be brought up over and over and over again.

I'm not sure how any of that mindles drivel fits into our discussion.

LOL, you believe it because you want to

Its not fair if there are no hearings or the hearings are obviously slanted...such as the Senate approving a justice previously vetted and questioned suddenly finding fault with them...

Have hearings is all I'm saying. Then the American people can decide if there is some sort of obstruction going on. But Hearings are the Constitutional Duty of the Senate in this act.

You're unimaginably stupid.

Lord knows Dems need something to energize them.

The Democrats won't have any problem getting the vote out. Their problem will be getting independents in the key swing states while having a presumptive nominee that has a penchant for putting her foot in her mouth and who takes puzzling trangents during stump speeches and town halls.

The more likely scenario is after the DNC screws Sanders over, million of his supporters will just sit this one out. Most of the low information regressives have no clue what the supreme court does, much less the difference it makes who sits on it.

332-206....history whispers louder than your delusions can scream.

^^^^^ 332 votes needing an a$$ kicking ^^^^^ for being so stupid. Pay taxes and you vote with logic. Having self esteem that is saturated to the point where hand outs and excuses override actuality. They're lazy and don't want to put in the time and effort to succeed. Thus they are perennial losers in the game of life

Fairness is a big thing among voters. It's why Romney lost (one of the galaxy of reasons); he pays less income tax than those who work for a living on dividend income. It was a master stroke getting him to admit that....

Treat Obama's nominees fairly or suffer the issue at the ballot box.

You're being hard on yourself. Surely, you've won at something in your life.

332-206...WINNING!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's telling the way that you have to spin the actions of your ideological opponents to put them in the worst possible light.

They are doing what they think is right.

YOu are narrow minded.

How else can you explain it?

The court has leaned right since Nixon. During that time, Democrats have repeatedly approved justices that would keep the court conservative.

Now, when it appears the court will finally lean left, Republicans are terrorized and threatening to block any appointment that will take away "their court"

They are doing what they think it right.

They are not "picking up their ball and going home".

Your need to marginalize anyone the resists your agenda is an aspect of your being narrow minded.

Yes it is.....Picking up their ball and going home

When things don't go the way conservatives want they resort to extortion or temper tantrums

25 Democrats voted to confirm Alito....How many Republicans will support Obamas pick?

They are using legislative tactics to their advantage.

"Temper tantrums"? You've been gloating about the coming permanent marginalization of a large percentage of the American population for quite some time. I've told you to expect every increasing anger over that.

I told you your expectation that whites would just happily bend over and take it was incorrect.

Altio is no Sotomayer, who is a radical that needs to be stopped at all costs.
Well, at least Sotomayer isn't a torture loving police state rubber stamper like that POS Alito.

Sotomayer supported blatant anti-white discrimination in the New Haven Firefighter case.

That type of racism is and will tear this country apart.

Democrats have confirmed conservative justices that gave the court a conservative advantage for 40 years

Now, when it looks like the court will take a liberal tilt, conservatives pick up their ball and go home

And which party used the nuclear option to force regressives into the lower courts? Making sure the supreme court remains somewhat conservative is the only way to counter that.

Republicans were taking their ball and going home in the lower courts too

If they didn't get to select the judge...nobody could
They blocked all appointments leaving the seats unfilled

Looks like we may need the nuclear option to fill the Scalia vacancy also

WINNING!

President Obama has seen 20 unanimous defeats before the Supreme Court Pduring the five and a half years of his presidency, a pace that outstrips former presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, according to a review of his record since 2009 by Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas).

Read more at: Ted Cruz: Obama's 20 Unanimous Supreme Court Losses Outpace Bush and Clinton, by Joel Gehrke, National Review

20?
Are you sure? Why don't you name some of those cases so we can see the magnitude of the decision

What did Obama win?
Obamacare (twice), Same sex marriage

Beat that pal

Alito was an almost good choice.
obamas choice will be a total piece of shit.
cant compare the two.

I get it
You are conservative and oppose any candidate a liberal President would nominate. But almost 70 million Americans said they want Obama to do the nominating

When Republicans were President, Democrats allowed them to fill the vacancies with conservative judges. Even when it ensured there would be a conservative court

Republicans refuse to do the same
