I realize that as a life long owner and collector of fire arms I have always secured them with chains, cables, locks and safes and vaults. Don't know any reason why you and others can not do the same and make a responsible effort to prevent your kids, their friends or anyone else from obtaining your or their weapons.

That is not what I posted. Obviously if a family member is of age and or qualified to use a firearm they would have access to your weapons or at least the weapons of your and their choice for self defense.

Their mother was one of those over protective mothers that resented every thing I ever did to help them grow up. I am afraid it would be more likely that the gun would be taken away from them and used on them. On the other hand if my nephew was there I would have no problem with him having the code to my gun safe. People responsioble enough to use the weapon as a tool should have access to it, this should not be decided by an out sider!

Their mother was one of those over protective mothers that resented every thing I ever did to help them grow up. I am afraid it would be more likely that the gun would be taken away from them and used on them. On the other hand if my nephew was there I would have no problem with him having the code to my gun safe. People responsioble enough to use the weapon as a tool should have access to it, this should not be decided by an out sider!

If you determine that your 17 year old is responsible to have access to your weapons and the kid goes out and kills 10 people you were obviously wrong about the kid being responsible enough to have access. If the parents decision played a roll in 10 people being murdered the parent is culpable.

Go hang out there you will see. If you are in Cleveland it is not a far drive. I am heart broken the way it is. I grew up there it was some of the best hunting and fishing in the state. You would not believe the size of the deer due to all the corn feilds. You look at the statistics they publish which are bull shit! My mother was a big wig at Human services and was privy to some stats the locals fooled with. Like the fact that there was seventy five rapes commited in a bathroom at east view park. This was not made public and it continued. They finaly caught the guy who had done most of them, but till then they just let mothers send their children into that bathroom. Isee the the face book pleas for prayers of my freinds children that are currently in rehab, i see next to no one in their twenties up town on a friday night because they are laying waisted in some garage on the west side lying in thier own puke.
