I'd be juggling money, here at the beginning of the Fiscal years, and Title 10 activating more Guard units across the country, especially and road building Engineer units, Potable Water Units and there wouldn't be an AVLB sitting at an armory or training area for 600 miles, making help and support very visible, all the way down to the Gulf Coast, clearing roads, building temp road, bridges and usable improved fording sites. And I hope to God FEMA is picking up the fuel tab on all the jp4 being used by the voluteer helicopters that are already onsite.

Now I can think of some legit reasons like.... Those going in might need to be rescued themselves later. Those going in with supplies might become targets for armed bandits. There's no way to control the quality of the goods being delivered which could possibly contribute to the chaos rather than help. Those are some legitimate reasons. However the post I read from a guy who's been doing it for 10 years even through the Trump administration seemed very realistic and plausible. The government has its pet contractors and they don't want any competition collecting their money. That seems like the most realistic explanation to me.
