Not dead a day and The Obamanation intends to nominate successor for Scalia on Supreme Court: CNN

There are no coincidences, Paper.

There are bad people in this world. So much so that your innocent mind can't comprehend.

The point was made that the loss of Scalia was not grieved one day. That is because what is suddenly at stake, what is coming in the near future in regards to this nation's future, is so critical and has the potential to affect the 'stake through the heart' 'Fundamental Change' Obama has really wanted to impose upon this nation our Founding Fathers created.

He has assaulted one of the greatest documents ever written, the Constitution, tainted and nearly destroyed our system of Justice by picking and choosing what laws he will and will not enforce, by allowing cities to violate federal law by providing safe haven to criminals and murderers who prey on US citizens, and by releasing criminals and terrorists from prisons.

He has sought to tip the political scales, potentially making the GOP extinct, by bringing in millions of illegals to eventually become card-carrying faithful voting Democrats and now has the opportunity to seize control of the highest court in the land, allowing Liberals to control and 'rule' the country.

If so motivated to achieve all of that, what is the life of one man to do so.

Not mourned a day, time to move swiftly to attain the 'prize'...

Obama / Liberals only need a solid majority on the USSC, liberally biased / leaning judges, and they can drag the country anywhere they want to take it.

Obama will nominate.

The Senate will procrastinate.

Plenty of ways to drag this out for 11 months or more.

SCOTUS will remain an Eight-Judge court until after January 20, 2017.

Remember when, led by our current Chief Justice, the USSC refused to stand for the President? Remember how strongly he opposed the President, stood up to him, courageously...then suddenly how he fell silent....became more...appeasing.

It was Roberts, of all people, who saved Obamacare. Obama's lawyers adamantly argued that the financial penalty for not buying it was a FINE, which was Un-Constitutional, but it was ROBERTS who changed their published/submitted legal defense FOR them, arguing that it was a TAX. Justice Kennedy pointed out this was NOT their job to do, that it was an 'over-reach' on Roberts' part.

So what did Obama / 'they' get on Roberts? Some suggested that it was the threat of preventing him and his wife from adopting his foreign child. Whatever it was, Roberts has not been the same since just before the hearing on OBAMACARE, since HE changed the government's brief for them in order to save Obama's 'legacy' legislation.

Isn't that what confirmation by the Senate is supposed to determine? The qualifications of the night nominee?

My suggestion is to follow the constitution and not the partisan whims of either political ideology. Surely you cannot say that all the justices are not qualified to be on the bench. Or perhaps you believe that partisanship rather than judicial qualifications are more likely to important?

Obama needs to appoint a Conservative Italian America and he'll get approved by the Senate. It's that simple
The President has to nominate the most qualified person to the court. Ethnic and political litmus tests are, in fact, unconstitutional. Where are the Conservative constitutionalists?
Ethnic and political litmus is all Barry knows. Dumbass
Cite the ethnic similarities among the justices nominated by the President, and do it with the respect I've shown you. You have no reason to call me, or any other poster, rude names. Unless your purpose in naming names is the o reveal your intellectual shortcomings.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, that's all this guy is about.
Yeah.m it's a pity.

The Constitution says nothing about a President is only allowed to nominate a Supreme Court justice in his first three years

President Barack Obama intends to nominate a Supreme Court justice after the death of Justice Antonin Scalia created a vacancy, CNN reported on Saturday, citing unnamed sources.

Scalia was in Texas to HUNT. Obviously mentally AND physically fit. In a very real sense, the Republic literally hangs and depends on this man. So how the hell does he die so suddenly? Not even suggesting foul play (well MAYBE!), just wondering what his doctors were doing/thinking.

Maybe he found out he was hunting with Cheney. That could scare someone to death.

Justice Roberts didn't want to have a fatal heart attack.

Just a reminder the Cloture rules requiring 60 votes to end debate in the Senate still applies for SCOTUS nominees. Yes Harry Reid dropped the nuke for executive appointments but exempted SCOTUS nominees. If 40 GOPers stand strong the nightmare of Obama getting to replace Scalia shall not pass.

The debates are going to happen well within the six month memory for voters in November. If the GOP plays games with this, we could see zero Republicans winning in November.

Abortion could be made illegal if another conservative is appointed. This is a great day for America. And maybe citizens united will get overturned.

This fight will remind Americans of all the very unpopular views conservative judges hold.

The reason Republicans win midterms is Americans don't vote every two years. This has now become the most important election of my lifetime. Thanks God for taking him when you did.

Mitch McConnell now says the American people should have a voice in this so it should be put off until after the election.
Did the American people elect Obama for 3 years?

Fine, the Republicans get tagged with the "obstructionist" label during an election year. Go with it. :laugh2:

June 27, 1987, Senate Democrats had asked liberal leaders to form "a solid phalanx" to oppose whomever President Ronald Reagan nominated to replace him, assuming it would tilt the court rightward. Within 45 minutes of Bork's nomination to the Court, Ted Kennedy (D-MA) took to the Senate floor with a strong condemnation of Bork in a nationally televised speech, TV ads narrated by Gregory Peck attacked Bork as an extremist, and Kennedy's speech successfully fueled widespread public skepticism of Bork's nomination.

President Obama can't really complain, he will be given the same equal opportunity of trying to push his liberal nominee through the senate. Even President George W. Bush had trouble filling a large number of judicial vacancies through a Democrat controlled senate. Are liberals and Obama going to start complaining because they happen to find themselves on the other side of politics?

Obfuscation could put Republican control of the Senate at risk. Look what it has done in the last few years and the reaction to a do-nothing Congress. Refusing to accept an Obama nomination could have a negative effect on fence sitters and independent voters. and promote motivation to Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents. The Senators running for reelection will be watching the polls carefully. Those polls will in all likelihood determine whether they are willing to obfuscate or not. Twenty-four Republican Senators will be needed to be reelected. A handful of losses with the Dem's retaining all their seats would take the Republican control away.

EPIC and TOTAL FAIL!
If it was a teabagging president. We all know what your response would be.

Scalia was murdered.

One media outlet says 'natural causes', another says the cause is 'undetermined'.

Scalia had been extremely vocal, especially for him, for a while now...negative of the Obama administration and of the Chief Justice / some decisions / opinions recently.

Of all the Justices one might expect to die from 'natural causes', Scalia did not top the list of USSC Judges.

'With so many important issues pending', Reid pointed out, it is imperative for the Liberals to have the court stacked in their favor RIGHT NOW... at any cost?

Scalia wouldn't be the 1st person sacrificed for the 'greater good'...ask Vince Foster ... and Ambassador Stevens.

If Obama can't appoint the next Justice, if the GOP succeed in preventing him from being able to do so as McConnell promised yesterday, he has that much more of a NEED for Hillary to win the Presidency, to ensure like-minded Democrats get to pick the next Justice. That provides more than enough Conflict of Interest ... REASON ... for him to ensure there is no Grand Jury and no Indictment of Hillary Clinton.
What a bunch of horse shit. Scalia was 79 years old and quite obese. He's lucky to have lived this long.

Who remembers that but the wonks? Republicans are the obstructionists, everyone knows that and holding up Obama's nomination will only serve to reinforce that perception going into the election.
