I'm surprised to hear these monuments are still in place. And the university of Mississippi took down their state flag because because it includes the confederate emblem.

New Orleans to take down Confederate statues

Trucks arrived to begin removing the first memorial, one that commemorates whites who tried to topple a biracial post-Civil War government in New Orleans, around 1:25 a.m. in an attempt to avoid disruption from supporters who want the monuments to stay, some of whom city officials said have made death threats.

Bunch of traitors who killed more troops than any enemy in us history. Might as well fly the nazi flag.

That sounds like you, so that means you meant to write "conservatives."
Liberal's hate history and want to destroy it. Much like Chairman Mao's infamous Red guard did in China.

Conservatives love history, the good and the bad, and want to preserve it for future generations.

Big difference.......

The history isn't being erased. Taking down statues commemorating traitors does not erase the history of the event.

I am so against statues and flags being removed. That is part of our history and we are supposed to learn from it, not just ignore it as if it never happened. Those who believe in secession now should take a good hard look at that era and what it meant for people, black and white. Brother killing brother, destruction of cities, changing the wrongs of the country and unfairness to a portion of our county. They didn't learn back then that the Constitution could deal with the changes without the negative results.

And there were leaders on both sides that we should celebrate for their love of their causes and standing up to what they felt was right.

America learned a vital lesson. When the US is dismantled, we all lose. Claiming a portion of out population is inferior due to their color is wrong.

We need to evaluate history and decide what it means for each person and pray we never return to make the same mistakes again.

Mississippi government should cut off funds for the public universities that refuse to fly the state flag. See who gives in faster. This is all no surprise. Leftists and their allies LOVE destroying history just like ISIS and the Taliban did.

We can learn from them and their ideas that almost severed our country. Citizens should learn from the Halocast for the same reason. A statue of Hitler wouuld be observed in Germany as a cautionary tale. That is not a comemoration thast is positive. These statues can be received as negative influences as well. And never take down that flag that some many men died for.

Find a U.S. history book that doesn't mention the Civil War.

Germany manages not to forget WWII without statues of Hitler.

I could see a statue of Hitler, but with the statue, have him standing on a pile of bodies of families with children. I could see man statues of Hitler, a tablet that says "Never Again."

I think it is more a day to honor the young men, conscripts or conned in one way or another, who pitted their flesh and bones against lead and gunpowder and lost. Not about the Southern Elite and their twisted vision of society.

how long before that changes?

History is not being forgotten . You can go to Arlington and see all the graves of soldiers killed by the confederates .

Maybe you could replace the statues wh Bo Bergdal statue? A Snowden statute ?
