NSA Spying On Americans

Secret government documents, published by the media in 2013, confirm the NSA obtains full copies of everything that is carried along major domestic fiber optic cable networks. In June 2013, the media, led by the Guardian and Washington Post started publishing a series of articles, along with full government documents, that have confirmed much of what was reported in 2005 and 2006 and then some. The reports showed-and the government later admitted—that the government is mass collecting phone metadata of all US customers under the guise of the Patriot Act. Moreover, the media reports confirm that the government is collecting and analyzing the content of communications of foreigners talking to persons inside the United States, as well as collecting much more, without a probable cause warrant.

Well of course, they've been given the power to do so by Congress. And yet you people still elect the same people who voted for this to be law. Hmmm.

Trump should not renew it. Hopefully he will not.
Trump is not a conservative.....it's the deal we made to destroy the GOPers.....

He will not stop it.....but at the same time, he will not weaponize it like Obama did....

The FISA Farce

President Bush proudly announced last month that he is violating federal law. He declared that in 2002 he ordered the National Security Agency to begin conducting warrantless wiretaps and email intercepts on Americans. He asserted that the wiretaps would continue, regardless of the law.

.

Why don't you address Bush's violation of the law, instead of complaining about Obama acting within the law.
Or we could slam them both - Bush for creating the horrific Patriot Act in the first place and then Obama for continuing that power grab.

What I found most interesting is that the Democrats feigned outrage at the passage of the PA and many called bush a dictator for it. Then they damn near unanimously reauthorized the act.

2005 and 2006? You going to blame that on Democrats and Obama?

Of course all those expanded capabilities from 2005 and 2006 are Obama's fault. Because Obama didn't let them expire, but instead extended their authorization.

You can't blame Obama for it... it was created by Bush under Bush. Has Trump gotten rid of the Patriot Act? Nope, and he won't.

Yes it was, but your "boy" signed the extension AND expended the sharing of information between agencies of ANY kind of information gathered. Sorry Bammy is just as guilty.

what is metadata?

it says the NSA collects meta data??

The reports showed-and the government later admitted—that the government is mass collecting phone metadata of all US customers

"
Metadata is "data that provides information about other data". Two types of metadata exist: structural metadata and descriptive metadata. Structural metadata is data about the containers of data. Descriptive metadata uses individual instances of application data or the data content."

No matter how we communicate they get it.. They built a nice little storage facility in Utah for it.

"The Utah Data Center, also known as the Intelligence Community Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative Data Center,[1] is a data storage facility for the United States Intelligence Community that is designed to store data estimated to be on the order of exabytes or larger.[2] Its purpose is to support the Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Initiative (CNCI), though its precise mission is classified.[3] The National Security Agency (NSA) leads operations at the facility as the executive agent for the Director of National Intelligence.[4] It is located at Camp Williams near Bluffdale, Utah, between Utah Lake and Great Salt Lake and was completed in May 2014 at a cost of $1.5 billion.[5][6]

As country we deserve to be spied on if we trust the federal government...

The point is that at THIS POINT IN TIME NSA can conduct a WARRANTLESS search without creating a paper trail thereby preventing those who have been affected from obtaining any evidence to the effect.

.

It's part of the Patriot Act... to stop terrorism. Just the same as Terrorist don't get the same rights as others. The Patriot Act allows the government to expedite intelligence gathering so that they can catch things as fast as possible.

A president can conduct a WARRANTLESS search of his/her opposition by merely claiming that he/she suspected that the individual was violation the "Patriot" or FISA Acts

.

Do you understand what the Patriot Act is for? I'll give you a hint, it isn't about an election.

DDo you understand what the Constitution and the Fourth Amendment are for?

So you didn't answer my question. You would have to answer my question before I can answer your's and explain it to you.

Your question is irrelevant the Constitution is the supreme Law of the Land.

What I find interesting is that NOBODY seems to care that they can watch us and listen to us on our own phones and computers any time they want to.

Not really , for the first time in our nations history we elect a president who is the enemy of the deep state,

Why give the power to the next Obama? Government should not have the power to circumvent the Constitution. Trump won't abuse it but as we just saw, a Democrat most certainly will.
