Nurse arrested for following hospital policy

The cop wanted a drug test from someone left in a coma after a collision. The evidence would disappear before a warrant can be obtained.

The nurse should have obeyed to cop. If the "search" was illegal, let a judge decide that later. You don't get to disobey police because of your policy. You don't get to disobey a cop because you think he's making a mistake.

Untrue. In a situation like that you can get an expedited warrant. The cop didn't want to actually do his job properly, so he tried to bully the nurse.

In one of the videos linked in here, one which is fairly long, it shows another officer speaking to the nurse after she had been put in the back of the car. That second officer mentions that if they had known the hospital had already drawn blood, they could have gotten a warrant. I don't know why he wouldn't have known, if that means the officers didn't ask, or the staff refused to say, or what.
That other cop ALSO stood by and did nothing when the off-the-rails cop arrested the nurse.....THAT'S a big part of the problem.

It's not. The facts of the case are known.

They've even been posted in this thread. But why bother reading, when you've got uninformed opinions to share?

Go suck a dick Doc.
To be honest I'm not all that interested in the case. The cop was a dick...end of story.
Got anything else negative to say fuk boi?

Don't get all butthurt at me because you're too lazy to read the fucking thread, dumbass. It's not my fault that you're a fuckwit.

Noooo...it's just that I dont care.
The cop was a dick, and so are you,and to me the rest doesnt really matter.

Stop clogging threads with your retarded vomit!

You can suck my.....
Sorry to hear you are GAY! Trump supporters hate you.

A nurse in Utah was arrested because she would not take blood from an unconscious patient. Apparently the hospital policy only allows drawing of blood from unconscious patients if they have given consent, if the police have a warrant, or if the patient is under arrest. The body cam video of the incident seems to show the officer involved arresting the woman out of anger and frustration, rather than because she had violated any law.

The nurse was not charged. The officer was taken off of blood draw duty. Based just on the video (and obviously, there may be important information we don't get from this video) I would think the officer needs some sort of discipline. It appears to me to be an abuse of authority.

Nurse arrested for refusing to draw blood from unconscious patient

Hospital policy will not save you from he law. The law supersedes any policy. However in this case the law was on her side. The officer was 100% in the wrong and should booted!

Wrong, the main reason this cop might (and probably) will be fired is he committed the sin of loosing his temper and overreacting in this situation. The nurse had a copy of the agreed upon hospital policy in her hand which the officer completely discounted/ignored, all the officer had to do was go into the room and put the patient under arrest....... problem solved.

They discussed in the longer video, there was no probable cause for an arrest or a warrant. Which is why the officer's reaction was so awful.
I didn't see the longer video.

It also showed, once the nurse was in the police car, handcuffed, another officer came over and tried to be "good cop." He told her that she was uncooperative, she just kept saying "no no no," and that she should have let the guy take the patient's blood because if it was unlawful, it would just get thrown out later. I think that cop was just as big of a jerk as the arresting officer, but he spoke more softly.
Remember folks....trump said it was ok to not protect her head as she's shoved in the police car....no big deal if she hit her head on the roof.....remember?

You clowns get more deranged each day.
Hardly....it's what trump said to the police in a speech: WATCH: Trump to police: Don't worry about people in custody hitting their heads on squad cars

And, you're suppose to get arrested if you disobey an officer, an officer who was instructed by his superior to arrest the woman.
We are not living under STASI rule yet. Just a reminder since you are already in your communist utopia.

The Cop is just roughing up citizens as Trump told them to. Trump would pardon the cop if he is convicted & she was brown.

trump said it was ok to not protect her head as she's shoved in the police car....no big deal if she hit her head on the roof.

She is lucky to be alive. That's the attitude that causes rough riding cuffed citizens in the back of police vans. then they arrive DOA from broken neck.
Good grief, you antitrumpers are psychotic.

The only reason this cop, who was following instructions from his superior, might be fired is to appease you fools in the mob who emotionally an brainlessly react to a video of the woman being arrested and dragged out.
The moron assaulted the woman who followed policies based on state law!!!!! The cop abused his power and should be prosecuted for assault. Gross abuse of public trust.

There has been no claim that the monster cop was following orders or instructions from a superior. All evidence indicates he made the horrible decision to arrest the nurse on his own.

Hey, we have lots of Darkies Behaving Badly topics on this forum. So let's have a Cops Behaving Badly topic and use it to say all cops are crazy. Why not?

A man was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He was taken to a hospital and was unconscious.

A police detective wanted a blood sample from the victim to see if he was intoxicated.

One of three conditions must be met to draw blood from a suspected DUI driver.

1) The cop must have a warrant.

2) The suspect must give his consent.

3) The suspect must be under arrest.

Any one of these three things would allow blood to be drawn.

None of these three conditions were met.

The cop ordered the head nurse on the unit to draw the unconscious man's blood. She rightly refused.

The cop insisted. The head nurse asked him several times if the suspect was under arrest. The cop answered in the negative.

She called her supervisor on the phone. The supervisor informed the cop he was make a big mistake.

At this point, the crazed cop totally loses it and roughs up the nurse and arrests her.

Bye bye, cop!

‘This is crazy,’ sobs Utah hospital nurse as cop roughs her up, arrests her for doing her job

Nothing will happen to him. Bank on it.

And they think the "war" is on them.

I will say this.....if the video didn't exist or hadn't gone viral....nothing WOULD have happened to him. Now.........he's toast.

Trump's exact quote to police: "thrown into the back of a paddy wagon, thrown in rough, please don't be to nice!" - Remember Freddie Gray's "Rough Ride"?

He wasn't "Making a mistake". He was breaking the fucking law. And you think she should have just curled up and let the cop break the law however he chose? Bullshit. This is not a police state. This is not some gray area that allows wiggle room. This was a blatant disregard for the law.

Wrong! - This is a police state!

The cops were only there trying to bully the nurse because they knew that the guy was not a suspect in a crime and that they could not get a warrant for his blood.

A warrant isn't realistic when the body is busy destroying the evidence. And, it's your assumption that the police are trying to cover up a botched chase with a Hail Mary attempt to find alcohol in a system of a driver who did nothing wrong.

Anyway, the cop shouldn't be fired. He was following the law as he understood it. And, you're suppose to get arrested if you disobey an officer, an officer who was instructed by his superior to arrest the woman.

Mob justice isn't justice, except when lynching a colored.

"He was following the law as he understood it"??? WTF? So his ignorance of the law (his profession) gets him off, but our ignorance of the law is not a defense?? Nice that you let the cops do whatever they want.

No. The nurse was right and so was the administrator who told the cops they could not have the blood sample. The cops were absolutely wrong here. I get that the law can be complicated. But in this case, it is simple. They needed to have a warrant, patient consent or have the man under arrest.

Why didn't the cop arrest the man? No evidence? No reasonable suspicion? But his constitutional rights can be violated because you expect people to sit idly by while the cops do whatever the hell they want? No. We are not a police state. The cop and the one who gave him the order to arrest the nurse should be fired. The cops who stood by and let him break the law should be reprimmanded.

And I assume nothing about the chase. The simple reality is they limit their liability if they find drugs in the blood. That's why they were hellbent on getting it.

This isn't mob justice either, asshole. Cops that don't follow the law should be replaced.

You're assuming the cops acted negligently in the car chase. You're assuming that man you call your dad is really your dad.

The only reason this cop, who was following instructions from his superior, might be fired is to appease you fools in the mob who emotionally an brainlessly react to a video of the woman being arrested and dragged out.

The cop knew that there were only 3 ways they legally get blood sample.
#1 - Warrant
#2 - Patient consent
#3 - Patient is under arrest.

Why didn't the cop arrest him??

Not yet. But it is getting there.
