Medvedev: Russia to Deploy Missiles in Response to U.S. Missile Shield

Wednesday, November 05, 2008

MOSCOW —

President Dmitry Medvedev says Russia will deploy missiles in its Baltic Sea territory in response to U.S. missile defense plans.
Medvedev says the short-range Iskander missiles will be deployed to the Kaliningrad region which borders NATO members Poland and Lithuania. He has not said how many missiles will be deployed or whether they will be fitted with nuclear warheads.

He said in a state-of-the-nation speech Wednesday that Russia will also deploy equipment to conduct to electronically hamper the operation of prospective U.S. missile defense facilities in Poland and the Czech Republic.

Medvedev said that Russia will also use navy resources as part of its response to the U.S. missile shield.

2 more months before it becomes Obama's watch, this falls under Bush, at this point....imo.

Any comments from our residing President on this yet?

Nothing gets done in the next two months. There's a message that Russia is sending within hours of the election.

plus as far as testing...

we all knew Obama was going to have to clean up prince george's mess.

Don't worry. Now that Obama is president, we will scrap any missile defense plans and rely on diplomacy ... talks without preconditions will bring those pesky Russians to heel.

Is that the boondoogle missile shield that has never really worked? They planted tracking device on one of the targets to be able to hit it?

How much have we spent on that without any payback?

This is interesting

Predictions:

1. Obama's "hold out your hand to everyone" foreign policy is going to be a catastrophe. They'll love it in Europe. They're probably laughing their heads off about it in the middle east already.

2. The US hasn't suffered a terrorist attack by al Qaeda since 9/11, but we'll get at least one during Obama's term.

3. We're going to lose in Afghanistan.

4. Iran will get nuclear weapons. There will be nuclear war between Iran and Israel. (This is the only irreversibly terrible thing I see upcoming, and it's very bad indeed.)

5. There will eventually be a press backlash against Obama which will make their treatment of Bush look mild. Partly that's going to be because Obama is going to disappoint them just as much as all his other supporters. Partly it will be the MSM desperately trying to regain its own credibility, by trying to show that they're not in his tank any longer. And because of that they are eventually going to do the reporting they should have done during this campaign, about Obama's less-than-savory friends, and about voter fraud, and about illegal fund-raising, and about a lot of other things.

6. Obama will not be re-elected in 2012. He may even end up doing an LBJ and not even running again.

I just finished reading den Beste, great writer, though I'll never understand his fascination with anime.

The way Biden said "He's going to be tested" really shows how much confidence he has in Obama. Let's hope Obama is really the man of his word. It's going to take a long time to do what he promised the American people. Will it take 1 or 2 or 4 years to actually accomplish his goals?
