Obama: Palestine Deserves Statehood

So what? Hasn't that been the US position (wink wink) for a while now?

"President Bush set a goal yesterday of ensuring the creation of a peaceful, democratic Palestinian state alongside Israel before he leaves office in 2009. With British Prime Minister Tony Blair at his side, Bush pledged to put the resources of the United States and the prestige of his presidency behind the quest.

"I'd like to see it done in four years," Bush said. "I think it is possible."

Palestinians and Arabs HAVE kept it going.... after they started the shit...

Go slink away from your myth posting... Let us know when the Pali's stob lobbing rockets and when the Arab countries offer up land for the Pali's

You're the one that suggested a war was the answer to the question, so don't be surprised when the Palestinians take you up on it. As for land elsewhere, they want their own homes.

They don't OWN ANY COUNTRY or 'HOME'.. IT IS NOT THEIRS.... You seem to forget that little FACT

The Arabs and Pali's decided to start a little war.. got their ass handed to them.. and then whine about the result... too bad, too sad... Israel owns what it owns and that is that

So, they lost out because of a war? If that's a justification, then don't cry when you end up with permanent war. Who said the land isn't their's? They'd been living there for centuries.

You want to ignore that the Arabs STARTED the 1967 War?

seriously?

As well as the 1948 war. And basically precipitated the 1973 war. As well as the war in Lebanon. Not to mention the incidents of Palestinian terrorism and hijacking. The Palis are bad actors. Even otehr Arabs hate them.

You have it backwards. They may have precipitated the '67 war, but actually started the '73 war. Like a said earlier, it seems there are many that should be studying history before commenting.

The Arabs have a long history of provocation and terrorism against israel. Israel has a long history of defending itself. All of that suggests Obama's prescriptions ignore that history and amounts to pandering to the Arab world.

War generally changes borders. Ask the Germans living in post war Poland all about it.

No. Bush wanted a peaceful democratic Palestinian state. See the difference?

The ass whoopins they received says it is not theirs... Jews had been living there for centuries too, but it's ok when they get overrun and kicked out

The FACT is that the Palis own no country, PERIOD... their little terror attacks are not going to get them one... and they should thank their lucky stars that the US over the years has pretty much prevented Israel from wiping them out in the region in response to the continual Pali attacks...

You think appeasing the terrorists by giving them something like land is going to stop war?? No... as long as there is an Israel, they will go against it

If the Palestinians had not rejected a two state solution they would have had their own state by now.

There was never a two state solution passed by the UNSC. A resolution was passed in the General Assembly but it was non-binding and the SC was to take up the issue. But the UN has no power to create nations. The Jews in Palestine created Israel all by themselves in 1948.

But if one side is still aggrieved, it can lead to another war. Ask anyone that remembers WW II.

you see.. just because Bush was a member of the party I am registered to, does not mean I think he is or was always right... maybe that is something you should learn

And as long as Israel exists, the Pali's will still be aggravated.. So to appease them to HOPE for no war, Israel should just give them whatever they want??

PUH-LEASE

It's hardly justified to use as an excuse things that happened almost two millenia ago, to disenfranchise a people today. Look at what happens when the South gets blamed for slavery and its aftermath and that ended less than a century and a half ago!

Umm.. perhaps you saw a little thing called the 6 day war??? And hate to break it to you, but the UN is not some master world government... and that there WAS NO PART OF THE PLAN IMPLEMENTED

And YOU are scolding someone else on history???

People were driven from their homes and not allowed to return. That's history, too. If you're going to use a war as justification, then don't scream when the Palestinians keep it going. I, personally, am hoping for peace someday.

People fled their homes. The Arabs encouraged the Palis to flee, declaring they would come back behind the victorious Arab armies.
Get it straight.

You bet. They all left thinking the Isreali's would get their asses kicked and they, the Pali's, would go right back home.

Didn't happen that way. The Isreali's were the ones doing the ass kicking. They have kicked Arab ass ever since.

Fuck Palestine. They elected Hamas and other jihadists to run the country. I could give shit one for any of those dirtbags.

Nope. Got some quotes where President Obama says he doesn't want a peaceful Palestinian State?

You Know what they "all" thought? Some just wanted to get out of the way of the bullets. Your attitude just leads to more war.

after they started the shit...

Seriously, man - if you have no idea when and how the conflict started - why are you posting on it?

"Why should the Arabs make peace? If I were an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That is natural: we have taken their country. Sure, God promised it to us, but what does that matter to them? Our God is not theirs. We come from Israel, it's true, but two thousand years ago, and what is that to them? There has been antisemitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They only see one thing: we have come here and stolen their country. Why should they accept that? They may perhaps forget in one or two generations' time, but for the moment there is no chance. So, it's simple: we have to stay strong and maintain a powerful army. Our whole policy is there. Otherwise the Arabs will wipe us out.

David Ben Gurion (Israel's first President)

You mention 'living there for centuries' and then whine when someone goes back even further?? Idiotic

The fact is that 'ownership' of the land has changed many times, but who OWNS it now is not the Pali's, it is Israel... PERIOD

The fact is there is no Palestine.. there is Israel.. and the territory of Israel grew larger after the wars that the Palis and Arabs STARTED... and yes, it is justification.. Israel owns it.. period... and as long as Israel exists, the Palis will try and attack them

The FACT is that the Palis own no country

Really....and yet they have lived in the area for 3,000 years, and the word 'Palestine' appeared on Roman maps for 600 years. Genetic testing links modern Palestinians with ancient Canaanites - what more ownership do they need?

btw, Israel does not "own" the West Bank or Gaza. That's the point, genius.

And they can maybe negotiate with some country that will just give them land.. But terror attacks against the country (like they continually do against Israel) will not get them there... And giving them the Sinai or whatever strip of land will not make peace.. You know it, and I know it.. And Israel is going nowhere.... Nor should Israel give up anything to terrorists

Jews lived there how long?? Romans lived there how long?? Ottomans lived there how long??

But just the Palis get a say

FACT is that ISRAEL OWNS IT.. PERIOD
