Obama to Normalize Relations with Cuba

Cuba releases Alan Gross Obama to overhaul relations - CNN.com

Obama is going to link up the Cuban and Hispanic vote before he leaves office. I blame the teapers for this...their obstruction, vitriol and hate politics actually gave Obama more political power and arrogance...you (teapers) spent so much time crying about manufactured controversies - he can now do what he wants and just point and laugh at you because of the hyperbolic and hysteria nonsense. You are the bitches that cried wolf and destroyed the GOP.

The Cuban Americans are against this you ignorant N####R
I can't remember....are you the self hating Jew or self hating wetback?

Finally, we've done what we should have done 25 years ago. The US policy toward Cuba has been a failure. Our policies kept them a 3rd world country but has it ended the communist dictatorship? When the US broke relations with Cuba in 1961 the presumption was Cuba would be isolated and the government would collapse. With the end of the the cold war, the administration felt lack of Russian trade and support would surely bring down the communist government. However, no matter how far Cuba slipped economically in relation to rest of the world, the dictatorship continued. With Fidel on the sidelines, his brother seems more willing to look to the future than the past.

Within 10 years of the time we recognized China, free markets were opening. Within 20 years, the Chinese economy was flourishing. The same thing will happen in Cuba.

I wonder how long it will be before the Cuba Ferry out of Port Everglades will be able to carry other than Cuban Americans.

you ignorant "N####R"'s far right hatred for BHO only fuels his ambition and his accomplishments

he is far brighter than all of you put together

since the lost election, he got a budget you all hate that does not hurt the EO or the ACA, the eventual passages of 23 controversial appointments thanks to Cruz and Lee, and what else . . . oh yeah Cuba

No wonder the Republican mainstream does not let you fools play any more Republican games
AGAIN FOR THE IDIOTICALLY STUPID. Obama can propose anything he wants but unless the Senate agrees nothing changes.

He cannot end the embargo. He can only nibble at the edges. There will be no investment in Cuba. Cuba doesn't permit it. The Cuban sources of money from Russia and Venezuela dried up. obama threw a lifeline to the Castro regime.

Watch it all come to pass, Tipsy, as Big Business rallies around the Pres.

You don't seem to understand that there is a thriving tourist industry in Cuba already.

Of course dummy liberals who think this is going to be the salvation of Cuban peasants don't realize that the government isn't going to invest in the people no matter what.

China wanted free markets Cuba does not.
Privatization and state endorsement of free markets in China took 10 years after diplomatic relations were restored. In Cuba it will come must faster. As sanctions are lifted, as they surely will, America companies will flock to Cuba like bees to honey.

Obama is not proposing normalizing diplomatic relations with Cuba. He's doing it. Congress can do little to stop it. Full restoration of diplomatic relations, including unlimited travel and trade, lies with Congress and they will surely fight the administration over this. Eventually, it will come just like immigration reform. Obama seems dead set on dragging the GOP kicking and screaming into the 21st century.

I think some of you on the right don't realize, the left have made Obama into America's First Dictator. He simply trumps everything else, what the Dictator wants, the Dictator shall have. Our Constitution and Congress be damned, we have a Liberal Dictator now.

When you think about it, Castro worked out a pretty good deal for Cuba. he replaced a totally corrupt dictatorship with a communist regime, the major change being that the dictator was no longer stealing the money for himself, but investing it in the infrastructure. Unfortunately for him, the US cut off all sources of money to do that. Castro made lemonade out of lemons by talking the Soviets into propping up his non-economy for about 40 years. The Soviets needed his sugar, and Castro needed everything. The people are satisfied with the government, and Cuba has not had to really produce anything in all that time. His only mistake was that missile thing. Now that the Soviets are no longer propping up their economy, Cuba has to find another sugar daddy. That is a win/win situation for us, because once the Cubans realize that one can buy an American automobile to replace the 1957 Chevy with it's engine replaced by a mule, with a new fuel injected model, the Cubans will embrace capitalism, just like the Chinese are doing. All we can do is to hope that they don't send us another Ricky Ricardo.

The GOP infighting begins.

Republicans hardly unanimous on new Cuba policy MSNBC
---
Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), for example, was on the plane back from Cuba with Alan Gross yesterday, and the Arizonan said he’ll sponsor legislation to vastly expand American travel to Cuba. Soon after, Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) said he’ll introduce an identical bill in the House.
---

The GOP will rapidly come around on Cuba. They just have not quite figured out what a vast untapped market is on that island. As soon as they run the numbers, they will be fighting for a place on the Cuba bandwagon.

It's astonishing to me, the sheer lack of intelligence on this topic. I can read this paragraph and almost hear Peter Griffin's voice from Family Guy.

"The people are satisfied with the government..." Really, Vand Castro? LMFAO!

Again... two groups are pleased about this....

A.) Corporatists who are looking to make a buck.
B.) Socialist-cheerleading Neo-Anarchist Lefties who want to "stick it to the man!"

They've got your bases covered both ways, eh Vandyman?

Castro turned out to be even worse than Bautista. Surely if Castro had attempted to make things better for the Cuban people the first to know would be the Cuban people.

If we lift the trade imbargo then we should make sure that Castro shuts down the Russian Lourdes intelligence facility.

I have no idea about your option B. Did you come up with that yourself?

Yes I have read that Cubans support Castro. I can't quote it right now, but the whole concept of the bay of Pigs fiasco was that the people were going to rise up and support the invaders, which, of course did not even remotely have a basis in reality. The people who remained after the exodus of the capitalists have supported Castro for all these years. There has never been a serious revolt, or even a demonstration of opposition. In addition, they have been fed propaganda of how the evil USA wants to invade and enslave them, which is similar to the propaganda from our Right, that somehow, a bunch of machete wielding peasants are going to invade Miami Beach and take away our freedoms, or something or other.

And, yes. Corporations are going to love this. Cuba is an island that has not yet been introduced to the wonderful marketing world of Walmart!
