And he just finished GIVING Egypt $1.5 BILLION in foreign aid in July 2013!!!!.... Talk about PISSING AWAY the money!!... How many times will Putin bitch slap the Manchurian muslim?

Ehud Ya’ari of Israel’s Channel 2 News reported on Tuesday night, that Egypt and Russia will be signing an unprecedented military agreement. In this agreement between Cairo and Moscow, Egypt will receive 24 of Russia’s advanced Mikoyan MiG-35 fighter jets, along with military and strategic advisers, as well as training for the Egyptian Air Force. The deal is worth $3 billion. It follows in the footsteps of a $2 billion arms deal that Egypt signed with Russia in February, and was primarily funded by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The deal itself has been in the works since...

I don't think I understand your point.

How did Obama "fail" here?

Obuma gives Egypt $1.5 Billion, they give that plus another $1.5 Billion to Russia.... perhaps they could have bought an American company fighter jet?

How did Egypt paying Russia $3 Billion equate to Russia giving Egypt foreign aid?

I'm not pleased to see my tax money being spent to buy Russian hardware but I do understand that America's union-made stuff may not be quite as good these days. Not happy about that, either, but ya gotta face reality. Only when enough people do that (face reality) will it be possible to improve the situation.

Why do you care who Egypt buys fighter jets from?

Why should Obama?

You either need to put a sarcasm smilie after your statements, or can you actually be that naïve?

If you had read the article;

It follows in the footsteps of a $2 billion arms deal that Egypt signed with Russia in February, and was primarily funded by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The deal itself has been in the works since November, as JewishPress.com reported when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited Cairo and Egyptian leader Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, and developed in response to decreased US military aid to Egypt.

Funny thing about Russian military gear.

Most of the electronics use vacuum tube technology which most of the world considers obsolete.

There has to be a reason. Might it be that the Russians just don't have the design capability? Perhaps don't have the manufacturing skills?

Or is it because they know tube-type stuff isn't destroyed by electro-magnetic pulses as are generated by nuclear explosions? If one might like to capture a nation and enslave its population rather than kill them all it would take just a few high-altitude bursts to bring American or European armed forces back to horse-drawn wagons.

Algeria was burned on a similar $7 billion dollar deal in which the manufacture had use old MIG frames...the MIGs were returned and the Algerians were reimbursed..the planes were given to the Ruskie air force in Kursk...

Did you realize that the $2 Billion sale in Feb. was PRIMARILY paid for by SA and the UAE, BUT nothing about the $3 Billion payment now? I didn't think so!

Egypt was a nation that had moved to join the West, now pushed firmly into the Eastern camp by Obuma's failure!

The majority of military electronic gear has protection circuits
built-in so they would survive (at least they are designed and tested
that way).

They plan on having both...

Yes, the military does spend big bucks for specially "hardened" electronics and does a lot of testing on major systems but they buy trucks and common vehicles right off the shelf. The only real test will be to expose the systems to a nuclear burst. But nobody seems to want to do that.
