A hardened and secure school facility need not look like a prison, so that is debunked right there.

If children are valued in our society, then a hardened school facility is a moral imperative.

BTW, there is no minority of pro-gun extremists because

1. There are no gun extremists,
2. Gun supporters are in the majority.
