On this 4th of July........Don’t forget to thank a Liberal

Our founding fathers were the most liberal thinkers of their era

Imagine believing that all men were created equal, that royalty were no better than anyone else, that common people should vote

Conservatives supported the King ....that is where the power was

Our liberal founding fathers risked all to create a new nation
/——/ Our Founding Fathers believed marriage was between a man and woman. Liberals, not so much.
They believed women shouldn't vote nor hold office.

Just FYI, our Founding Fathers, created a "Constitutional Republic," and the Electoral College, not a true Democracy.

The GOP is Tory in origin. The party of Lincoln. The party of the most influential human being in all of American political history. So, call me a Tory. Besides being an anachronism, it's flattering.

Really? Tory militia fought on the side of the British. Anti-American.
I am so glad I could amuse you and stuff. Not Anti American. George Washington was a commissioned officer in the British Army and a Proud upstanding Tory. And a slave owner. Which takes us back to the OP's original point...Blacks don't have to observe the 4th, but if they do, that's good too.

Correct. Blacks are not required to appreciate the freedom given them by my White ancestors.

Yes indeed. And thank the Gods that the Founders weren't scumbag progressives!

Government is a consumer, it's not a producer.

This is something that isnt discussed anywhere nearly as much as it should be. Great point. The government doesn't produce anything. Therefore, the government has nothing. Anything they aquire, they take from producers and then they redistribute what they took from producers however they want to others arbitrarily.

They're not even consumers. They're thieves.
Libertarian horsecrap. Consider the contracts of DOD with the military. Those are mighty producers.

Consider the contracts of the US with not only the military forces but all of the agencies and businesses that supported the effort in WWII.

The workers never would have tolerated libertarian propaganda in their factories.

Wow, you choose less than 1% of the governments activities and one that is actually constitutional for your example. Military contractors produce mostly expendables. Things that have no advantage to the everyday citizen, but necessary to the survival of the country. Unfortunately the federal bureaucracy makes even that cost much more than it should. Because the bureaucracy consumes..
Your evaluation of what I said or your lack of understanding of the government remain obvious.

Just can't bring yourself to tell the truth can ya? The fact is both were made up of citizens willing to bear arms in the defense of the country. The only difference is the level of training the regular army received, which back then wasn't very damn much.

OKTexas remains in error and yet again reveals his lack of knowledge about our Continental Army. The militia were temporary soldiers of the individual states. The Continental Army was made up of regulars enlisted in the national Army. He implies the truth is not the truth, which is his problem. He states but offers no proof that the Continentals did not receive training, that it "wasn't very damn much." General Baron von Steuben, who trained the Continentals into a professional, would have had such ignorant and insulting remarks by such as OK Texas punished by whipping on the wheel. He would never have permitted sass from trash to go unpunished.

A good read about Baron von Steuben is Biography of Baron von Steuben

"Yet now you commiecrats are demanding Christian values to be substituted for our secular law enforcement decisions. Hypocrites much? .
That is the remark of cultural fascism, typically a falsehood that makes no sense. There are no commies in Americ. If there were they would not substitute any religous values "for our secular law enforcement decisions."

Real Christians would want our law enforcement motivated by spiritual and ethical values, though.

What is a liberal?

A person who looks at the challenges of his day and seeks to make them better

Our founding fathers would look at Trump today and start another revolution

By that definition Donald J Trump is the ultimate "liberal". He came to Washington faced with the Herculean labor of repairing America after 8 years of Obamunist destruction.

He's used imagination and his force of will to work diligently to clean Obama Augean stables after so many years of neglect.

There was nothing to repair. Trump is ruining this country.

Paranoid Slave rapists who didn't want to pay their taxes, subjugating women and stealing land from Indians and Mexicans.

I guess that makes them conservatives.

Your type of liberals are Lenin, Stalin, Marx, Mao, Castro, Chavez...
Nobody is like our founding fathers
They lived in a different era

And never forget that Tom Jefferson was a Fundamentalist- someone who not only refused to commission Transexual officers into the Army or even permit Gay Marriage in the Virginia Commonwealth as governor.

Key phrase: "for their time"

times change and eventually one must apply the brakes before you go right off a cliff. You're deluding yourself if you think the founding fathers would have supported even a fraction of today's liberal policies.

I agree and the FF also would not approve of the giant Federal Government we now have.

Those very wise men wanted the States to have the power, not a Federal Government.

You can bet they would all be spinning in their graves if they could see the USA of today.

Why do Conservatives continuallly regurgitate nonsense like.......Liberals don’t believe in freedom?

It shows how limited your intelligence is

Recent examples prove otherwise.

.
Hardly

Violence on college campuses to prevent people from simply speaking, hounding administration officials in public because of differences in policy. I could go on, but that's not promoting freedom, it's quite the opposite.

.
Constitution provides a right to protest

Address grievances to the government, yes, harass, riot and threaten other citizens, NO!

.
Those who break the law get arrested

See how easy it is?

Our founders were some of the greatest liberal minds in history. That is why we celebrate them

But their liberalism was through the eyes of 18 th century aristocrats. They could not envision a society 250 years later. Doesn’t mean you don’t celebrate what they accomplished

If these men were around today, they would be called Deplorable Racist Homophobes.

They weren't "liberal" at all, not in the modern sense of the word.

In actuality, they were to the right of Rush.

You seem to define liberal as a single mindset that remains static through time
