You have to acknowledge the adroitness of Pres. Obama's handling of the pending intervention into Syria by handing the ball to Congress.

He turned his often quoted "Crossing the Red Line" into a personal "Win = Win" situation.

So that now if Congress votes 'No' then he can blame them for being soft and making the U.S. look bad.

And if Congress votes 'Yes' he can blame them if things turn out bad in Syria; or claim credit for following the Constitution if the intervention is a success. ..

You see 'adroitness' while the rest of the world sees cowardice.

Only the kneepad-wearing sycophant knob-slurping left sees anything other than a high-yellow cake boy pretending to be a Man.

He's a coward.

Agreed.

There's only so much he could do after his ridiculous "red line" comment, and this strategy helps him dilute his exposure if things go badly and take credit as Commander In Chief if things somehow go well.

Ya gotta hand it to him, this was a smart move, considering.

So your impressed with back peddling, and defecting responsibility?!!

We need statesman not slick political schemers.

I have continually cast derision on Pres. Obama for his amateur behavior during the last 5+ years in office.

But now he has finally 'evolved' into a seasoned statesman worthy of praise.

And can now join the ranks of Washington, Jefferson, and Lincoln. ..

It only makes Obama look bad, he doesn't need Congressional approval. I think rather he's just waiting for arabs to kill each other some more, because ANY dead arab is a good day for the US. When they kill each other, it's a great day!

In a nutshell?

Machiavelli would be proud.

This basically is why you'll never be taken seriously on politics.

Sunni gave me a neg rep for this post, LOLOLOLOL!

It's simple bro, Obama isn't attacking because Syrians don't need our help killing each other. They're doing a very fine job all by their lonesome. Sprinkle in some Iranians, Hezbollers, Al-Qs, and other undesirables (arabs) all killing each other, and you have a win-win-win-win-win situation all around!!!!

Yes it was a good political decision NOT to use his power as CiC, I quite agree.

Hate to burst your bubble Sunni man but it was Nancy Pelosi who grabbed him by the gonads, squeezed hard and told him he had not only to engage Congress, but he had to offer greater transparency on the evidence.

Pelosi said she sided with Boehner over this.

True story.

Obama's yellow and arrogant; how would a real "Man" like Dick Cheney deal with Assad?

Before he made his decision everyone on the right and most on the left said he needed to consult Congress. Maybe he did and maybe he didn't but he is now doing what the majority wanted him to do. Unless they were just setting a trap for him which is what it appears to me listening to the rhetoric. There will be time to drop the bombs there is no rush.

"With the latest twist in Syria, every previous criterion of national-security-policy formulation has been debunked. The entire process, built up over 75 years of generally successful policy planning under twelve previous presidents, six of each party, that led the West to victory in World War II and the Cold War, has just been jettisoned with the narcissistic breeziness this administration has brought to almost everything except disposing of bin Laden.

Even I could scarcely believe I was not watching “Saturday Night Live” or “The Gong Show” as the president, with Vice President Biden beside him — trying by his studiously grim countenance to contain the self-inflating hot-air balloon he seems to have as a brain — announced that he was sending his plan of a punitive but not really damaging cruise-missile strike on the Assad faction in Syria to the Congress, before having an afternoon of golf.

The national interest has to be defined. It has not been, in this case."
