To many Americans from a bygone era the Andrews Sisters were more than a sister act. There was a time when they were an institution. I think it was because they represented something besides themselves.

Anyway, I still remember listening to my favorite Andrews Sisters song on the radio when I was kid during WWII.

They were ladies and they could sing. Pretty rare commodities in today's pop-world.

Think was their song sung in the Movie 1941 with Dan Ackroyd, John Belushi, Ned & Warren Beatty, and Slim Pickens...

Chattanooga Choo Choo
Artist: The Andrews Sisters
Hello railroad
Is this the railroad?
I want a oneway ticket down to Tennesee
I'm leaving immediately
Chattanooga - here I come

Pardon me boy, it that the Chattanooga Choo Choo?
Right on track Twenty-nine, Boy you can gimme a shine
I can afford to board the Chattanooga Choo Choo
I've got my fare, and just a trifle to spare

You'll leave the Pennsylvania Station ‘bout a quarter to four
Read a magazine and then you're in Baltimore
Dinner in the diner, Nothing could be finer
Than to have your ham an' eggs in Carolina

When you hear the whistle blowin' eight to the bar
Then you know that Tennessee is not very far.
Shovel all the coal in, Gotta keep it rollin'
Woo, Woo! Chattanooga there you are.

There's gonna be a certain party at the station
in satin and lace
I used to call Funny Face
She's gonna cry
until I tell her that I'll never roam
so Chattanooga Choo Choo won't you choo choo me home

CHATTANOOGA CHOO CHOO Lyrics - ANDREWS SISTERS

To Mr. H.: Oh yeah, that one brings back memories of my sister and the big old radio in the living room. Whenever they played that one I would turn up the volume. Wherever my older sister was she would come running in and do the boogie woogie.

To waltky: I don’t know about the movie 1941. The song is mostly associated with Glenn Miller, Tex Beneke, and Paula Kelly with the Modernaires.
