Pentagon To Announce Equal Benefits For Married Gay Couples

The Pentagon recently sponsored a drag show as part of "community pride" day or something. This is where our military is headed: a bunch of politically correct nonsense sensitive to "societal needs" but heedless of its primary mission, which is to kill people and break stuff.

Was attendance mandatory? Drag shows are fun. Whenever we'd pull into Key West, drag shows were popular with the crew.

Speaking of drag...you should have seen the engineering department (all straight, butch gear head men) on Rocky Horror night.

That's the Navy.

When I made Shellback they had a dragshow and beauty contest. We voted on the sexiest Dragqueen as our official Shellback Queen. I was wondering where all of those guys got all of those wigs and clothes from. The winner needed a Marine escort because he was a real sexy bitch. Looked just like a woman, and we hadn't seen one in 90 days.

I love how these benefits are being offered without going through Congress first. And giving free leave to get married? BullShit.

Why do they need to go to congress to offer the same benefits heterosexuals get?

Until this announcement there was no such thing as "marriage leave".

If you wanted to get married, you took regular leave, if you had any saved. Or you got married on Friday and went back to work on Monday.

There WAS NO MARRIAGE LEAVE.. PERIOD>... you are correct.. we had to save up our OWN leave to have a wedding and honeymoon

More appeasement by giving out more shit... gotta please those they are wishing to buy the votes of

Absolutely... now.. I put in for an received a 4 day pass, since I had high performance and behavior marks, to get ready for my wedding back then.. BUT, I had to put in for and take my PERSONAL saved up leave time for my wedding and honeymoon

And my now ex-wife got maternity leave for 30 days after the birth of our first child... but had to come back to duty for 1 day before taking 45 days of saved leave to continue taking care of our kid... she was not allowed by reg to join them together

Our nation is falling apart and this is what you care about. Very telling.

You realize that this doesnt make their relationship any more a real marriage right? You can glue feathers to a cat, but that's not going to make it a bird.

It's obvious you arent sure about that. You cant possibly know. Just because you were in the military doesn't mean you know how the military works. Just sit down and let the lefties tell you how it "really" is.

You've never seen "South Pacific", have you?

Not real life stupid dyke....its a movie.

Also included in the announcement will reportedly be a "marraige leave" program for gay couples. Service members stationed in one of the 37 states where gay marriage is illegal will be allowed to take up to 10 days of leave to travel to one of the 13 states or Washington, D.C. where gay marriage is legal.

They don't have to go through Congress. Congress's DOMA law was just overturned. Therefore, the military MUST extend marriage benefits to gays since the military is on the federal level.

What makes you think this leave won't be deducted from their 30 days of annual leave?

Did anybody doubt that married homosexuals in the Military would legally be afforded all the benefits that non-sodomites enjoy? Why is it even news?

This thread just verifies that this country has lost its mind to the bullshit of polical correctness. We have become a nation of mindless sheep.

the founders are rolling in their graves as they watch what this once great nation is becoming.

Simply by applying the laws equally? Yummy hyperbole!!!

As I thought. Non-Chargeable leave. BullShit.

So am I to assume that the same will be done for the straight Service Member who wants to get married? Of course not.

Equal - Yeah right......................it would appear that some are "more equal" than others. My God - I'm ashamed of the military.

Prove that only gays get married leave.

Evidently you failed to read Post #19.

Let me repost part of it for you...

Gays In Military Given Leave for Marriage Travel | Military.com

Gay and lesbian service members assigned more than 100 miles from a state where same-sex marriages are legal, or assigned overseas, will be granted extra days of leave to travel where they can marry legally, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Wednesday.

The special homosexual "marriage leave" accommodation, effective immediately and allowable only once in a member’s career, won’t count against 30 days annual leave every active duty member earns.
Non-chargeable leave of up to seven days will be granted if the gay or lesbian member is assigned inside the continental United States. Those wishing to marry while assigned outside of the continental U.S will get up to 10 days of extra leave.

Now... Just to make sure you understand..

ONLY Gay and Lesbians are eligible. It is NOT charged against their ordinary leave. It is a special accommodation for Gays and Lesbians only. Straights are not eligible.

Special leave for special people to make them feel special.

Poor America

By "special people", you of course mean married people? The married leave is granted regardless of orientation. Is that why you're pissed, because now it's not a special right just for the straights?

Really? You had 90 days on the books?

As far as I can remember (and I enlisted in 1982 and was retired in 2002), you could only have 60 days on the books.

How did you manage to get 90 days on the books?

Military Leave (Vacation) Program

I think you're lying........................

Oppss. No lying faulty memory as to the dates.. I had 90 days on the books the 1st of Sept, so I would take my 30 then, that way come Oct 1, I only had 60 on the books. With my last job, I was 1 deep, so I would often "touch base" while on that 30.. Then in Oct I would leave early some days.

When I left the military, I had 75 days leave accured, plus the Commander gave me an additional 20 "Commander Days".

If you will remember, you could sell back your excess leave just by having it on the books on Oct 1st.

While I have been out since 1998, you may want to be a bit more careful with throwing that word "Liar" out at me. I take great pains not to lie. I may be wrong.. but I don't lie.

Now you change your story tho...you originally said you had 90 days on the books on 1 Oct...that means you would lose 30 days. Now you say you took that extra 30 on the 1st of Sep. I don't see many commands letting you take a 30 day block every year tho........

I don't know which calendar you use, but September is the month that precedes October on mine. I was off by one month as to when I had the 90 days. If being off by one month after 15 years is lying in your book, so be it. It's making a mistake in mine.

I rarely took leave in less than 15 days at a time. If I was going to travel more than a 1,000 miles to visit family, I was going to stay for a while. I can't remember ever being denied my requested leave.
