Killing them will certainly work on those that are caught, but will have no effect on the others. For most I don't believe it is psychological, I believe it to be a hard wiring of their brain problem that's why the recidivism rate is 100%. Castration likewise won't work as they'll figure out some other way to "love" the children. That leaves imprisonment.

I am OK with a form of lifetime imprisonment where they live on an island and do all the normal things you do in life, there is just no contact with children and they don't leave the island...ever.

IMO, it is the duty of adults to protect children and keep them safe. They want and need "safety and protection" and that's the job of adults.

As a very open and free sexual person (as you may have noticed) sex crimes, especially those directed at children only brings media and public down on all sex. Consequently I have an interest in understanding how some go from sex-positive to pathological. Majored in psychology remember. Understanding our thoughts and motivations includes rather a lot of sexuality. But abnormal psychology continues to elude my understanding.
