Up on the scaffold
As we move close to a situation where the conversation on race becomes harder to ignore, we should make an effort to de-stigmatise a topic that has been allowed to grow into such a taboo by virtue of the term spitefully appied to anyone who raises the subject of racial incompatibility and the detriment it often has on modern society. As such, I think that it would be a good idea if we, too, evolved with the times and re-named the "Race Relations/Racism" forum the Race Relations & Race Realism Forum so as to break down barriers amongst ourselves in anticipation of a much more intense debate on the subject if and when things really come to a head.

Please, feel free to add you own, grown-up, suggestions for the re-branding

Racism is a man-made prejudice and bias that will be difficult to overcome. In the distant future, when the "mixture of races", and the "mixing of races", muddies the waters of separate and obviously defined races, there'll be less justification to argue race and racial issues. In other words, we're becoming more of a "race mixture" people, and less of a "race defined" people. Society has already accepted, condoned, and realized mix races. As the number of "mixed races" increase, racial issues will be less common. Of course, this is in the distant future, and we can't change people's prejudices and biases overnight.

Do we need to discuss racism now? Yes, of course we do. Does racism adversely affect society in general? Yes, of course it does. Is racial tension and racial divide making headlines? Yes, of course they are. In my opinion, there are no solutions that'll satisfy everyone on both sides. We can discuss racism forever, but to what end? Which side is willing to "give in"? Which side will be asked to make all the sacrifices?

To make a positive and meaningful effort at reducing or eliminating racism, "good intentioned actions" must follow any discussion, else everyone will end up back at square one. And so far, most actions have backfired and rekindled hatred and opened old wounds. So, were the actions taken in good faith, or were they merely tokens of false pretense and attempts at a quick fix? We can cite many examples in employment, education, housing, and certain quotas, all in efforts to establish race equality. Did they work as planned? No, and it's evident by national headlines and racism spotlighting current events.

The header "Race Relations" could easily be renamed "Racial Divide and Prejudices". After all, aren't we discussing and debating race division in society, the accompanying prejudices, hatred, media bias, and race oppression? At this point in time, I think "Race Relations" is far off into the future, if we're speaking of positive relations between races. We have a serious race problem, and any relationship between races is strictly negative as of today. Society is not ready for racial equality. There's just way too much hatred still on the table.

"Racial Divide and Prejudices"

Not a bad idea.

What is "race realism" supposed to mean?

Race realism is the view that biological (genetic) human races exist as opposed to considering races arbitrary social constructs or other forms of race denialism. Critics tend to dislike the term and prefer similar terms such as racialism (not to be confused with racism).
