This philosophy could only work if big corporations were broken into so many pieces that an average state can afford to take them to court and win. As it is any of the really big multinationals can outspend most states in a regulatory dispute. It's sad that the only entity capable of standing up to an Exxon-Mobil or a Goldman Sachs, the federal government, is infected by their bought and paid for politicians.
