Political Theories on Recent Shootings

The pattern is staggering. A number of U.S. cities have gun homicide rates in line with the most deadly nations in the world.

If it were a country, New Orleans (with a rate 62.1 gun murders per 100,000 people) would rank second in the world.

Detroit's gun homicide rate (35.9) is just a bit less than El Salvador (39.9).

Baltimore's rate (29.7) is not too far off that of Guatemala (34.8).

Gun murder in Newark (25.4) and Miami (23.7) is comparable to Colombia (27.1).

Washington D.C. (19) has a higher rate of gun homicide than Brazil (18.1).

Atlanta's rate (17.2) is about the same as South Africa (17).

Cleveland (17.4) has a higher rate than the Dominican Republic (16.3).

Gun murder in Buffalo (16.5) is similar to Panama (16.2).

Houston's rate (12.9) is slightly higher than Ecuador's (12.7).

Gun homicide in Chicago (11.6) is similar to Guyana (11.5).

Phoenix's rate (10.6) is slightly higher than Mexico (10).

Los Angeles (9.2) is comparable to the Philippines (8.9).

Boston rate (6.2) is higher than Nicaragua (5.9).

New York, where gun murders have declined to just four per 100,000, is still higher than Argentina (3).

Even the cities with the lowest homicide rates by American standards, like San Jose and Austin, compare to Albania and Cambodia respectively.

Austin...the capitol of the reddest state in the union...

That any murder makes the news any longer is more bizarre than the murder itself it seems.

What districts are they in?

Let's take New Orleans. Dollars to donuts we are talking the 9th ward.

My first visit, my tour guide told me.............don't cross this line.

Detroit and Buffalo......I'll tell you where the problems are. I know both border cities very well.

You sure you want to talk about this?

more guns = less crimes

But don't take my word for it.......so says Harvard University in a study released in April of this year!!! This is real bad news for the gun grabber k00ks, particularly the radicals in this forum!!!

Does Owning Guns Reduce Crime?

Many people believe that owning guns only increases the amount of crime. However, a recent study published in the Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy concluded that there is a negative correlation between gun ownership and violent crime in countries internationally. In other words, the more guns the less crime. The study showed that nations with strict gun control laws have substantially higher murder rates than those who do not. In fact, the 9 European nations with the lowest gun ownership rate have a combined murder rate that is three times that of the nine European nations with the highest gun ownership rate.

What's chilling about that list is all those cities have a high percentage of non whites.

In all the years I have owned it my Glock has never committed a murder though if anyone decides to enter my house uninvited it will deliver to them a major case of lead poisoning in a very short time.

Anybody want to deal with what districts the murder rate is higher in?

*cough *

The vast majority of it is gang related and happens over drugs. I laugh every time someone brings up the murder rate of Chicago. It's half of what it was when I lived there in the early 90's, and I never feared for my life living there. I could go downtown or just about anywhere I wanted. What I didn't do was go to areas where I didn't want to go to because I knew they weren't safe. BTW, I actually worked in those bad areas during the daytime. It was fairly safe although I watched myself. When I would go to work, every other day or so someone would tell me how somebody was killed within a block of the place I was working at. I worked in different locations all the time, so it was always a new experience. In some areas, really close to the projects, I would get escorts from my car and back to my car when I left.

In all these big cities, the vast majority of murders happen in certain neighborhoods. Detroit is one of the exceptions. There are very few safe areas in Detroit, but there are some.

I could care less about thug A, offing thug B. I would supply them ammo if I thought their cleansing could be done sooner.

Like the LA PC did during the LA riots, let them burn down their own neighborhoods.

Dumb clucks

What districts would those be? C'mon...throw the race card out there.... That always helps.

Not going to respond to my challenge? What's your solution?

It's a long term solution but simply make guns less affordable. Demand goes down and manufacturers stop making as many. Once that happens, supply dries up.

Pretty simple.

She does not realize the irony of her post - the highest homicide rate is in the most gun controlled cities

Pretty simple.

Yeah, that hasn't worked with any of the tax increases on gun or ammo sales. In fact, gun sales increased. So while in theory it sounds great, in reality, not so much. Any other wonders in logic?

Link please?

A large bond on each weapon produced
Liability insurance by each owner of a weapon
Demonize gun ownership like we did with cigarettes
Serious taxation to pay for the police who have to investigate gun crimes relative to high crime areas
Make all gun crimes federal crimes; you bring a gun to a crime scene; you're gone for 20 years. See ya.

Just google or bing "tax increase effect on gun sales". Plenty of links there that support my statement.
