Poll: 6 in 10 dislike or hate Trump and Clinton.

At present pace, it will soon be 8 in 10. The election from Hell, maybe literally. Take your pick and hold your nose. The decades of partisan political distrust and inaction have produced a race no one likes. At least we agree on that much.

"The two candidates likely to square off in November's general election are both disliked or even hated by roughly six in 10 Americans, according to the results of the latest weekly NBC News/SurveyMonkey tracking poll out Tuesday.

Asked their feelings about Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, just 17 percent said they admired the former secretary of state, while 10 percent said the same of the reality TV star-turned-presumptive Republican nominee. About one in four said they like Clinton or Trump but do not admire them. Another 37 percent and 39 percent said they dislike but do not hate Clinton and Trump, respectively, while 21 percent said they hate Clinton and 24 percent said they hate Trump."

and?
And, comment, or don't, as you please.

Which makes you wonder how these two got their parties' nominations.

The election from Hell, maybe literally. Take your pick and hold your nose.

No, I don't have to hold my nose. There are other people besides Trump and Clinton running for president. If you ignore them just because "they can't win" then you're just as bad as the asshats who nominated those two in the first place.
Unfortunately, if your guy has no chance to win, you just threw your vote away.

No thanks, I'll go with the lesser evil.

And you just made my point above. Pat yourself on the back.
When the choice is either A or B, only a child demands C.

If the choice were only A or B you might have a point, but since it's not, you don't.

The problem is nobody knows who they are and won't take the time to explore those options, the vast majority of voters are locked into the two party apparatus.

Agreed. The American voters are lemmings following each other off a cliff.
Emotion not logic drives politics, always has, always will.

Just because you don't like either candidate doesn't necessarily mean that everyone else's choice is wrong. I know you are the self-esteem generation so you naturally think your opinion rocks and everyone else's opinion is wrong but in reality, that is not necessarily true.

The majority of the public has a poor opinion of both candidates. That's the whole basis of this discussion.

what is the point of your comment?

we know that the right has trashed Hillary for the past two years, hence driving her approval numbers down from something like 70%. to be expected.

as for trump's he's disgusting to most anyone who isn't an old white male.

Sorry, I live in the real world, in a country with a two-party system where only a person from one of those two parties can win the top spot.

What world you live in, I couldn't say? TV or the movies I guess.

yes, only the gubmint haters who can't tell the difference between the candidates are correct. :cuckoo:

A third party candidate could easily win the top spot if those 6 out of ten people stopped allowing themselves to be herded like you.

That raises an interesting question. Is your vote for another wasted when you dont vote for either party? In principle it sounds intelligent to vote for another but in reality you know most people are going to vote for the two main parties.

There are major differences between them, doesn't make them any less desirable to the majority of Americans.

If only it was that easy for people to change their beliefs.

The wasted vote is voting for someone you don't really like just because conventional wisdom says they have a better chance of winning.

I really don't like (Insert Trump or Hillary) but I voted for them and they won. Yay! I don't like half of what they're doing, but hey, my vote wasn't "wasted" so I guess won too...... right?

1 in 6 hate Trump but 4 and 6 hate hillary. Lets not combine the stats in order to cover up the truth that people dislike Hillary more than they dislike Trump.

Where do we get the idea politicians had to be admired. Jesus fuckin christ! Has it ever occurred to you that politicians want to be admired and love it when people think they have to be in order to get the job? How come we can't see the self-interested motives of the people in power?

is there anything you don't lie about?

1 in 6 republicans hate trump, loony toon. that isn't the electorate.

the number for Hillary includes republicans who are almost all insane right now.

I haven't lied about anything you crazy bitch. The point I was making is that whoever came up with this number deliberately combined the stats to cover up for the fact that more people hate Hillary than Trump. I'm not sure what is the exact numbers but I'm guessing that this is true. I can't know because the people who came up with this number isn't releasing the breakdown which can only mean that someone is covering for Hillary. I suspect that this is true because almost every other pol says that a lot of people don't like her.

Herded? No, unlike you we simply don't want to keep banging our heads on the pole.

It shouldnt be a yay! thing.

If A and B are both less preferable choices but are pretty much guaranteed to win and you vote for saint C who has no chance to win, what exactly did you accomplish other than satisfying your personal choice?

51% get 51% of what they wanted.

And you get? Nothing.

Emotion not logic drives politics, always has, always will.

The irony is that feelings can tell us something that logic can't about people. I think women know this because they know when you are misrepresenting yourself just by your interaction with them. Maybe elections are the same way sometimes. Our feelings may give us incite into the canidates themselves that our rational thinking can't.
