Polls on illegal immigration are a dime a dozen, and are easily skewed.

It does appear that some people have had enough of this and that maybe we have enough of them here, even legal immigrants. It's like they escaped a bad environment to come here and here come those idiots we got away from. Like the Mariel boat lift when Cuba emptied their prisons and mental hospitals and sent them here. Just a poll, and politicians only use them for electoral purposes, and then proceed that way they are directed anyway. The only side effect of deportations would be another maybe fatal attack on the 1st 2nd 3rd, 5th 10th and 14th amendments to facilitate internal enforcement. Be careful what you wish for. https://www.axios.com/2024/04/25/trump-biden-americans-illegal-immigration-poll

The problem with "Deport them all" is that you have to actually, you know, have hearings to deport them. (Otherwise, anyone can get deported!)

Heck, as it is, ICE has accidentally deported people who were born here because they couldn't produce identification on the spot.

I am currently in the process of getting my wife a sponsorship for permanent residency. (She had previously claimed asylum but still hadn't gotten a hearing after 7 years). The hoops they are making us jump through are absurd. (Filing 200 pages of documentation, paying over $4000 in fees, and waiting a year to hopefully get this resolved.)

We could solve the Illegal problem very simply.

1) Very strict enforcement of workplace eligibility
2) Creation of biometric national ID Cards
3) Adequate staffing of asylum courts

Of course, the xenophobes wouldn't be happy with any of these.

That and encouraging self deportation instead of subsidizing illegal entry. That would help. Oh, and tell the state dept to stop disrupting other countries' economic and political stability, that would be good too. Maybe put the drug cartels on the Not Our Friends list too.

Money ... ask any Border Agent and he'll tell you we need more agents ... and more fully staffed courts ...

House Republicans refuse ... they're getting rich passing pork-barrel CR after pork-barrel CR ... just like Democrats ...

It's really more complicated than that.

The reality is that we need undocumented labor to keep certain industries running, because Americans just don't want to do those jobs.

Instead of establishing a sensible guest worker program, we make these people run the gauntlet of getting into this country.

According to globalist china apologists the Middle Kingdom is a wonderful place

Anyone would have to be crazy to leave communist china and come here

We dont need more courts

Build the wall and deport anyone who shows up without a visa

Asylum is a scam that needs to be repealed

The lib guest worker proposal is just open borders by a different name

It should not include women and children and workers should not br allowed to stay year round

I am not aware of anyone who has said that.

We just don't think you should punish the American consumer with tariffs because Trump doesn't understand economics.

Asylum is established in both American law and in international treaties we have signed.

Everyone is entitled to due process of law.

You have that in reverse.

Before you guys all started beating your chests, Paco would come up here by himself for three months, work hard, and then go back to Mexico and live like a king the rest of the year.

Then you twats started making crossing the border more of a hassle, so Paco figured it would be easier to just sneak across the border once a year with his wife and kids, than having to do it a couple times a year by himself.

The asylum laws today are bad for America and need to be changed

But globalists like biden are making the problem worse

For instance no international treaty mandates that biden must set up offices in latin America and recruit applicants which US taxpayers then airlift to the United States

No problem. We promise the hearing will be at least as long as the interview they endured when Biden admitted them.

That excuse might have worked 20 years ago

But since then some ambulance chasing immigration lawyers at the ACLU and other organizations discovered the amnesty loophole and the game has changed

How expensive will it be to requires visas ... this would be staffing at American consulates around the world ... then a whole new branch of government going around checking ... plus all the extra courts to maintain due process of law ...

Asylum does NOT include economic refugees ... and I agree there needs to be better enforcement at the border ... have these folks bring the documents that prove they're political refugees, and not just a cheap excuse to work in the USA ... and for that we have to pay for due process at the border ...

Republicans control the House ... only they can initiate this funding ... they won't ... too much fun blaming Democrats ... if you think we can control our borders for free, you'd be wrong ... conservatives can just bus the immigrants to liberal cities, where they're wanted ...

Bullshit.

A lot of things never happen because if a divided congress or a hostile executive branch threatening a veto

The legislators say why waste time when it has zero chance of becoming law

That frustrates both sides, but it is a fact in many cases

Now you are ducking the issue

Allegedly your wife is chinese and allegedly she applied for aslyum
Yes she is.

And like anyone who is forced to flee from a culture she grew up in, she has mixed feelings. She still has family over there (Her brother died last year of Covid) and she couldn't go back for the funeral.

She is also a lot more religious than I am. But the church she belonged to is not one approved of by the government.

You mean "Embassies"? You guys said that you want people to apply in their own countries. Some people have done that. And you are against that, too.

The laws are fine as they are, we just need a process to enforce it. Our law says they should get a hearing within 180 days. The backlog is up to four years now.

Sounds like a good reason to adequately staff the courts.

The problem is, probably 30% of seekers would STILL get admission, which horrifies you xenophobes.
