I know a lot of posters are not thrilled with religious news of any sort. But, to me, this is a most interesting article that shed light on the man and what he believes to be the canons of the Catholic church.

For instance – the church could not sell Michelangelo's Pieta because it doesn't belong to the church – it belongs to Mankind. The same holds true for the rest of the church's “treasures.”

At the same time, he says he does sell some “riches”, the elaborate gifts he has received to include motorcycles and cars. They are either given away or sold at auction, the proceeds going to the Papal Almoner and used for the needs of the poor.

A lot of church money goes to maintain hospitals and schools and to maintain the structure of the church – paying salaries and other needs.

And here comes a real “ouch”

If a believer speaks about poverty or the homeless and leads the life of a pharaoh – this cannot be done.”

And he walks the talk in the way he lives.
