Republicans already proposed an alternative which was better, before the ACA was even voted on. Obama ignored them. Re-negotiating something which happened eight years ago is not possible. This is just an ass covering exercise by Obama. He knows the ACA is going to be gutted as the unworkable utopian clusterfuck it is, and wants to salvage his legacy.

The GOP plan was trashed by the independent Congressional Budget Office

It did nothing to insure 20 million Americans without insurance

But it would have improved healthcare for those twenty million, which is sort of the point. What passed made money for Big Hospitals, but pretty much everyone else was screwed..

Why is it so hard for you to say you will support the existing program if Republicans can't come up with something better?

You need a cup of coffee RW. It is pretty clear that the ACA made things worse than what existed before the ACA.

Of course not. They are children acting out against anything that has Obama's name on it even if their actions are detrimental to the nation.

Actually...they could end up fixing Obamacare - it's one thing to pass a bill that doesn't have a chance of passing the presidents desk (Obama veto) - it's another to pass a bill that could actually happen, so they are scrambling to figure out the repercussions both political and economic.

The 20 million insured figure is mostly due to Medicaid expansion....(i.e. A Government hand out to people who pay nothing into the system).

It is a joke as millions lost their coverage from employers (i.e. working folks that paid into the system) and were forced into the exchanges and often paid much much more for insurance.

There is a reason Obamacare is hated by a majority of Americans and has been from day one.

Given the fact you ignore the failures of Obamacare the millions who lost there plan after being told they would be able to keep it if they liked it the premiums that are going to skyrocket this year the high debuctables that give you insurance on paper but not in any useful way and the lack of insurer choices many now suffer from. The idea that President Obama will consider anything better than what he considers to be the signature achievement of his Presidency Obamacare is laughable.

The GOP plan is block grants to States to pay for the (mostly) fuck ups on Medicaid and take it out of the Federal Government's hands. They will allow interstate sale of health insurance like you can already do with auto insurance. And finally they will force price concessions from big pharma to lower drug costs.

Do you understand now? Much better than shitty Obamacare that forces 18 guys to pay for mammograms and well baby care.
