Pedophilia is a sexual orientation - and one that should and will remain as oppressed as it can be made. The same is true of rapists, some arsonists and people that might steal underwear - they are all hurting people, to varying degrees, because of their sexual orientation.

Here is the simple fact about homosexuality; homosexual acts happen between consenting adults. Now here is the simple fact about pedophilia; acts of pedophilia take place between an adult and a non-consenting minor who is in fact being raped.

You are only looking at half of the equation. Pedophiles may be 'born that way' but the children aren't 'attracted' to the pedophiles. It's a one way street, it's not mutual. Unless there is an extremely early hormonal onslaught within the younger person, they are simply being abused, tricked, deceived, bullied or forced into engaging in acts that they usually don't understand or enjoy, especially since their bodies and minds are not developed enough for that activity. Pedophiles are predatory.

It's an extension of the "well if a man can marry a man now, what's next, a man marrying a goat?" idea, but it makes a little bit of sense since we're dealing with two human beings here.

If being gay is something you're born with (which i believe it is) and that makes it ok to be gay, then if you're born with being sexually attracted to children when why is that not ok? "Lack of consent" is being tied with pedophilia here but that's not necessarily the case. If a 15 year old consents to a sexual relationship with an older man, the only thing that makes that relationship unacceptable under the law is the fact that our law doesn't consider that 15 year old mentally capable of making a credible decision on what "consent" is.
