Progressives Upset That Biden Is Considering Lowering Stimulus Threshold

"Over the last few days, President Joe Biden has indicated he’s willing to “target” $1,400 stimulus checks to Americans most in need in an effort to find bipartisan ground with Republican lawmakers. According to multiple reports, plans are being drawn up to phase out direct payments at $50,000 per year -- that would mean $1,400 checks for anyone making less than $50,000 and $2,800 for married couples earning $100,000 or less. If an individual was considered the head of house and earning up to $75,000, he or she would also qualify."

So for all of this talk of Biden being a radical socialist progressive dictator; he keeps showing everyone that he is what he has always been; a centrist establishment corporate Democrat who is still trying to push austerity cuts on the middle and working class while doing no such thing to the wealth class.....Progressives in this country have a right to be furious if Biden caves on this for the sake of "bipartisanship" -- because if he does, that would mean Trump's stimulus checks were more progressive than Biden's.

As one progressive strategist said "I find it obscene that a Congress full of millionaires (funded by billionaires) is trying to means test the difference between $50,000 and $75,000 for a life-saving survival check during a pandemic. We need more working people in our government."
I have no problem with this idea, what so ever. An individual making 50K+ or couple making 100K+ during the pandemic year are not in need of economic stimulation. If they are not making their way in the world at that level, the problem is not economic. It is a money management problem.
If you are making what you always make, why do you need a stimulus anyways?
I second this. To me, the stimulus money should only go to whoever has taken a financial nose dive because of the pandemic matter.

God bless you always!!!

Holly
The money should go to the people who received the first stimulus.......

The WHOLE ECONOMY TOOK a nose dive and the money being put in the hands of the middle and working class folks stimulates the economy far more than any taxcuts did.....

We as a couple would never survive on $100k living in MA. It all depends on where you live. You cannot assume that $100 in Arkansas will be the same as $100 in CA. Hence why states should decide on topics such as minimum wage.
Quite true. So maybe direct payments on a one shot deal may not be the best way to address stimulating the economy? What do you favor, mass government works projects that supply a living wage like WPA on steroids?

I recommend not doing anything and allowing the free markets to reign. If people are on the streets starving and cold then maybe the governors will open up the country and allow people to decide how much of a risk they are willing to take with this virus that has a 99% survival rate. I am always in favor of free markets. ALWAYS. Those who are unemployed may apply for unemployment of course. Propping up the economy by printing money and kicking the can down the road just builds a bigger bubble that will eventually burst.

I don't have a problem with this, and I'm not sure why anyone would. Why would you need a stimulus check if you're making 50k a year? Send it to the folks who are really hurting.

That comment demonstrates a complete disconnect from reality.

Obama/Biden is a major source of funding for the Iranian nuclear program.

That's been debunked over and over and I'm.not gonna do it again.

Are you claiming CBS News was lying?

You Nazis think you can rewrite history.

No, I'm saying you are.

Duh.

You're misrepresenting them.

Stop playing like you're stupid. People might start to believe it.

Oh yes. I'm misrepresenting them by posting them when they are embarrassing to the party.

You of the CCP are really quite stupid.

But now it is becoming drama.
First he backed off the 2k dollar check and now he is wanting to lower the threshold?
The $600 we received in December was a down payment for the $2,000. $1,400 + $600= $2,000
Progs do not give money in a general sense to the lower classes across the board. they know they must be taxed for the agendas.
