Rachel Reeves will give a statement to Parliament on Monday promising “honesty” about the scale of the financial challenge faced by the new Labour government.

The audit of public spending she ordered when she became chancellor is an unusual exercise that has not occurred before.

It is not about new policy or a fresh borrowing forecast.

In a nut shell, as always, Lefties and Labour have Utopian thoughts on grand expensive schemes, Their economics skills are poor to non-existent. With what's been going on with costs of the financial collapse way back when and the likes of the covid pandemic, you just can't be expected to spend. It just doesn't work. If anyone thinks national debt and taxes are high, just watch the shit show, you've seen nothing yet.

Sure. Like conservatism has been the bedrock stalwart for the last 15 years in the UK. :)
